Rememberance
60
Daddy,
there's a time a place
when I see your face
and I remember all the times
I sneered or laughed
for all that you'd done wrong
A childish thing, a silly thing,
A thing I can not recall
Then that moment,
I was still a child
when your heart, it failed to beat.
I miss you still
the morning that was my wedding day
the day that she was born
my heart was ragged at those moments
ripped, bleeding, torn
to say I miss you
my father,
would be too simple a word
for in those times when I think you're here
I can not breathe or sing or sleep
and
In the quiet times
when my heart still aches and trills
there are those moments
the quiet ones, where crickets chirp
and babies burp
or when my darling daughter laughs
that I forget that you have gone
my heart starts racing
then starts aching
when I remember that I'm wrong.

I was in kind of a maudlin mood yesterday. Thanks for the comment!
