With non-renewable energy sources such as wood, coal and water starting to become such a precious commodity these days, it makes sense that you might consider using renewable energy solutions to help reduce your carbon footprint and save money on energy at the same time.

With advancements in technology and infrastructure, these green and clean systems are becoming much more efficient.

Renewable energy sources include things like: solar energy from the sun and wind energy from the air. These are in infinite supply and can’t be used up, unlike wood and coal which is gone once we use it.  And of course they are free and completely environmentally friendly.

Solar Energy (Sun)

The sun is our biggest and most abundant energy available today, but it’s only recently that people have started to try and use that energy for their own power and electricity at home. This is free energy (provided the sun always shines of course).

When most people think of using a renewable energy source in their own homes, the first thing they think of is solar power.

You can install your own solar panels or get the professionals in to do it, and it will not only help you cut your power bills, but will also save other precious resources in the process creating a greener world.

Solar panels are cost effective and very low maintenance. Many houses are now using solar panels to provide power and light to their families. Cooking with solar energy is considered very healthy as well.

Of course, this source is limited to areas of the globe that receive sunlight so if you live in a cold dark climate it might not be the most efficient form of electricity for you.

How Does Solar Power Work?

Solar power is simply power that is generated from the sun.  It's free and it doesn't give off carbon dioxide emissions so it's safe for both the environment and your health.  It's considered a very clean energy.

So how can you take advantage of solar power?

You'll need something to capture the energy.  When the sun hits something (your skin, the ground) you'll notice that you get warmer and heat up - using something to capture that energy such as solar panels allows you to convert that energy into electricity.

Most newer solar panels used small cheap crystals such as copper-indium-gallium-selenide that is shaped into flexible 'panel's.  Previous solar panels used to be made out of silicon, but silicon crystals are expensive which is why the smaller cheaper crystals are now being used.

Installing Your Own Solar Panels

Wind Energy (Air)

People have been using wind energy for many thousands of years in the form of windmills. Today many towns and villages still use windmills to help tow boats, pump water, and more.

Windmills and wind turbines are very energy efficient and can generate tones of megawatts of electricity to homes and businesses. In fact, many newly built estates have begun to become energy friendly and power whole communities with wind turbine energy.

Wind energy is best used if you have a large area of flat land to be able to generate the power from.  The benefits of wind power is that it is very efficient and can power large areas, however there is limitations as the turbine unit could require repair and maintenance on a regular basis as birds and insects often get caught in the turbine blades.

Hydro Energy (Water)

Hydro energy is another renewable power source simple because it’s very effective to convert water into electricity. Dams can be built and filled with rainwater to provide energy solutions on a large scale.

Cities have been using water power for many years. A great example is the Hover Dam which powers surrounding areas.

There is still some debate over whether hydro energy can affect water borne flora and fauna who live in and around these dams however.

The reasons that many cities want to use hydro energy is that it is one of the cheapest methods of converting a source of energy into electricity and it is very reliable.

Summary

All of these renewable energy solutions produce energy without releasing carbon into the atomosphere.

Whilst some systems do cost money to set up initially, they will all save you money in the long run and be better for the environment and your health.

If you are thinking about making your home more environmentally friendly then all of these solutions can be used in your home (yes, even water on a much smaller scale).

Solar Energy Affiliate Programs

If you are an affiliate wanting to promote solar energy products then you can either promote digital products (ebooks) or physical products (solar panels).

There are actually a lot to choose from that you can make some good money with.

Here are some of my favorites (none of these links below include my affiliate link - they are for your information only)

Clickbank Products

Earth4Energy - www.earth4energy.com/affiliates/

This product has a massive 473 gravity on Clickbank so you know it's a huge seller.  It was the first of the make your own solar energy / wind energy at home products on the market and has a killer sales page that converts really well.

GreenDIYenergy - www.greenDIYenergy.com/aff

Another product will high gravity (127) that converst really well.  Direct competition for the Earth4Energy product so could be good to use both on a review page.

Home Made Energy = www.homemadeenergy.org/aff

Again this product is similar to the first two so it's worth putting together a review page of all three products so you earn a commission no matter which one the customer chooses.  They have a good back end product as well.

Amazon Products

Amazon has various solar panel kits and books that you can promote as well.
