Resort Review of the Royal Solaris Los Cabos
The following is David's professional opinion from a recent hotel inspection.
Ambiance-I liked this resort when I first saw it and now that I have had a chance to stay here, I have to say it is one of the few all-inclusive's that hit on all cylinders. I cannot remember from check-in to check-out a staff that was as responsive and friendly. You cannot help but feel comfortable here.
Beach-The beach is large, great for a stroll and getting your feet wet. Swimming in the ocean is hit or miss depending on the undertow.
Charges (extra) - Spa treatments would be extra. They charge $1.00 p/day for the safety deposit box.
Distances- 15 minutes from the airport and only 5 minutes from San Jose del Cabo. About a 30 minute cab ride into Cabo San Lucas.
Entertainment on Property -Varied entertainment and activities during the day and evening. They also do a dinner show every evening in the theatre.
Fitness Area - They had a very nice fitness area.
Food- 5 restaurants of which 2 are A la Carte for dinner. They had a great little sports bar for the guys, gals too! The two specialty restaurants serve Italian and Mexican cuisine. I was very pleased with the quality of the food for an all-inclusive.
Getting Around- You can walk to San Jose del Cabo, approximate 15-20 minute walk. You can either take a cab or ride the public bus into Cabos San Lucas. The bus is a bargain at $2 each way.
Internet Access -There is an hourly charge for internet access if you use their PCs. You may use your own laptop in the lobby and lobby bar with wireless access running $20.00 for the whole stay. Not bad compared to other resorts.
Jackets and Ties- Keep them at home, but bring slacks and polo shirt for dinner in the A la Carte restaurants.
Kids-Very family friendly. This was the one hotel that buzzed with activities. Not only do they have a kids club but they also have a juniors club for ages 12-18. This resort is great for all ages, teens included
Lighting-Well lit at night.
Medical Services-On call medical services.
Negatives- The same as with most resorts in Los Cabos, non swim able beach at times
Nightlife- They have their own theatre for shows and conventions.
Opportunities-The price points are fantastic for the value you get.
Pool-Nice pool area, open over looking the ocean. Not big and fancy but still very nice. They also have a kids only pool out near the water slide.
Protection-In room safe.
Recreation-Lots of activities during the day. Also close to where they have ATV tours.
Rooms- Typical style and size rooms. Ocean front two bedroom suites open up up to Jr Suite next door. Corner rooms seem to have more space. Adjoining rooms are available with a shared interior door.
Shopping-Small gift shop on property. Plenty of shopping downtown.
Terrain-Since it is a smaller resort you do not feel you have to walk for ever to get from your room to the restaurants beach or ocean.
View-Most rooms have either Partial Ocean views to Ocean views.
Weather-Warm and dry all year. They do get more rain in September and October. This is a great choice if you normally vacation in July or August to avoid the Monsoons and hurricanes. Los Cabos is actually very dry and arid. The best way to describe it is like putting Arizona on a beach.
WOW Factor-The level of service hands down. Everyone was friendly, courteous and responsive.
X-Y-Z-Overall impression is this a great choice for families with children of all ages. They also were the only hotel that offered a Hospitality Room for those checking in early in case their room is not ready. Also, one of the best values in all of Los Cabos.
