Restaurant Menu Templates essential rules

There are some pre-design rules you should follow if you look to buy or design your own menu design templates, these rules are essential and recommended.

Firstly.... you must cost your menu, this is a must if you want to know where to place your highest contributing items on your restaurant menu template. There is a great deal of information on the internet on how to cost your menu so be sure to get information and use it. Once you have costed your menu pick out your 4-5 highest contributing items from your menu items, these items will be used on your restaurant menu templates. Now... before I go any further I need to explain you're your highest contributing items are. Your highest contributing items are not necessarily your highest profit items... let me explain. Lets say you have garlic bread that sells for $3.00 and the food cost on this is say $0.80 so your contribution margin (CM) is $2.20 and your gross profit percentage is 73%. Then... let say you sell a beef fillet steak for $28.00 and the food cost is $9.00, therefore your CM is $19.00 and your gross profit is 67%. Now you are better off to sell a steak because it is the CM that pays the bills and it would take you to sell over 8 garlic breads to get the same CM.

Secondly... ensure that you use complementary colors when you purchase or design your own restaurant menu templates and make sure that the colors match your own restaurant branding.

Thirdly... use easy to read fonts, there is nothing worse that customers trying to read a hard to read menu, try to avoid those fancy fonts as you may think they look great on your menu they can be a nightmare to read. You can use the fancy fonts on your restaurant menu templates for the headings or sub headings.

Fourthly....Don't clutter your restaurant menu templates with too much text or different sized fonts, make sure you keep it consistent. Keep some white space on the menu as it makes it easier to read for your customers, because in the end you need your customer to read the menu in order to buy anything from it.

Lastly.... Use current pictures on your menu, as they say pictures say a thousand words. Use the most enticing menu pictures on your menu as your customers will buy with their eyes so make sure you have some great looking menu pictures. For the best results have a professional photographer take some photos of your menu items it will make an enormous difference.
