Food and Restaurant Reviews
55Why not do Restaurant Reviews?
I started blogging several years ago with my first blog being a business brainstorming blog on Blogger.com. I then moved onto Wordpress.com which has become my blogging platform of choice. Blogging about food or restaurants seemed to become a natural extenstion of blogging.
Currently, my primary food blog, TheGrubhound.com, is a restaurant review blog where I write about the foods that we encounter not only at home, but on our travels as well. In addition to restaurant reviews, I also do other food blogging as well.
For example, last weekend, I took a trip to a local farmers market, and made a little video about all the stores in the market. This turned out to be pretty cool, because we got to taste some of the best European cheeses I have ever eaten. I also added the phrases Cheesemonger and Artisan Sausage Makers to my food vocabulary.
Why Blog about Food?
Blogging about food is a great way to encouter not only new restaurants, but it also encourages you to try foods that you would not normally include in your regular daily diet.
How to Food Blog
You can start by doing reviews of your local restaurants. Local restaurants are always appreciative of any type of press. I myself have a habit of not doing bad reviews. If I come across a place or something I don't like, I just won't write about it.
I also like to include pictures of the food, but be warned this can be a little annoying to those you are eating with, so please be considerate of others and try to limit your flash photography.
Recently, I started doing restaurant review videos of the places we visit, and this not only serves to reduce the flash, but it also lets me take video notes about the restaurant that is being reviewed. If you are going to do some video blogging at restaurants, first ask if your server wants to be on the video, just don't take it for granted that they don't mind. When I create a video, I often like to capture the first bite of the food to capture the first impressions.
Restaurant reviews are a great way to share your dining experiences, and it lets others know about other places that they might want to try out for their next dining experience.
