Resurrection Trilogy
68
Crucify
I hid in the corner,
Slipped away as the crowd pressed in
And I held my ears as they cried
Crucify
I closed my eyes to the cross
I Didn't want to see
Hope give way to the governor's decree
Crucify
I trembled in fear
Where was my strength?
Snached away - Taken by the word
Crucify
When Jesus Died
The curtain of the sanctuary split in two
Torn from top to bottom
The Holy of holies broken for our iniquities
Time moved forward into utter darkness and shook the earth
Rocks were split and the earth and tomb relented
Giving up the dead in Christ for resurrection
Fear overcame the fighting man and broke his hardened heart
"Surely this is the Son of God, a Righteous Holy Man"
The son of God
O Death where is thy sting - O grave where is thy victory
Why are you looking for the living among the dead? He is not here. He has risen! Remember He said He would be crucified at the hands of sinful men, that he would die. But then on the third day he would arise! Then they remembered!
Run, Peter, run fast toward that empty tomb
Bow low, look in and believe
He is risen!
Despair no more, Emmaus traveller look closely don't you see Him
Don't be so slow to believe
He is risen - He is risen indeed!
Calvary
O Jesus, what Thou did for me, None other can compare
For thine own life did set me free, Oh Jesus, How you must care
The cross that stood at Calvary, Might well to bear my name
For 'twas my sins that hung thee upon that cross the same
Oh Lord, How could I e'er repay that which you did for me
For Lord, You saved me on that day, That precious day at Calvary
An Easter Note From Me
Romans 5:8-10 says this:
But God demonstrates His love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Much more then having been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His son, how much more having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life."
My thoughts on this verse:
Through the blood of Jesus Christ all of our sins are blotted out. Debt paid by Christ, who died in our place. Yet now He lives and if He lives how much more am I saved by his life?
These words always ring so true for me. When the Lord reached out through someone else to touch my life and reconcile my debt I was living a life that no good woman should ever live. And yet at the moment that I said yes to Him all of the shame that had pushed me to the edge of depravity was all placed on Jesus and taken away from me. The poem Calvary was born out of a gratitude for Jesus, who took my place, paid my sin debt and set me free from a life of destruction. All to Him I owe and yet nothing I give can ever repay. But the wonderful thing is that it wasn't a loan that He gave to me on the precious day at Calvary; it was a gift.
Would you take a moment now to just picture the Lord Jesus Christ upon that cross. Close your eyes and see the hill called Golgotha. See Jesus, beaten, humiliated and afflicted, hanging on that cross. See Him as He looks down at you with eyes that are full of compassion and says [your name] "It is finished." Feel the immense love that compelled Him to hang on that cross. Realize that your sin hung Him there and give thanks to Him for such a great gift of salvation.
Then open you eyes and look up toward the sky and picture Him now risen, because, my friends, the grave could not keep him. Death had no grip on Him and the power of hell could not prevent the ultimate gift He brings of an eternal life with Him.
I serve a risen Savior!
To my brothers and sisters in Christ: May you be established in Him and know the joy of being raised up with Him, even now in this world. And may your hearts leap for joy every time you look up and think of our risen Savior, Jesus Christ!
To those who do not believe or have never received this gift of salvation: God's arm is never too short to save you. Today is the day of salvation! Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved! Want to know more? Send me an email.
