Can Baby Boomers Afford to Retire?

Retirement,Baby Boomers and Social Security: Can They Afford It?

Baby boomers are the generation of people born between 1947 and about 1962. This means that right now they are anywhere between 46 and 61 years old. Retirement should be on each and everyone's mind right now.

In the past, retirement was seen as something that happened when you reached the age of 65. By then, if you worked your plan, you have paid off your house, put the kids through college and have enough money saved to actually live your life instead of merely exist.

This represents a time when people like the boomer generation thought they would have the same job for life, that their income would always be enough to support the family and that whatever their needs might be at retirement, either their pension or social security would be enough. This so sooooooo not true anymore.

Not too many years ago, it was said that if you wanted to have $40,000 per year to live on, you would need to have $1M in savings earning interest to give you that sort of income.

Boomers were hoping Social Security would be enough.

No too long ago, $40,000 a year seemed like it could provide a reasonable lifestyle, but with the high cost of living today, this is unlikely to be enough.

Now, you would need to have about $1.5-2M in savings to have enough to come in (dividends, interest) and live on. Do you have it?

Has the mortgage been paid off?

Have you made plans for payments on your health insurance?

The cost of medical care has gone through the roof. How's your health? The cost of health insurance can be terrifying. How much will it cost you every year to maintain?

Baby Boomers need to wake up and realize that social security and pensions aren't enough anymore when you consider the rising costs of living. Lifestyle is also important where is the money to provide for it?

The truth is that if you have failed to plan for your retirement you might be in for a big surprise.

Retirement Is Not An Option for Many Baby Boomers

There are a large number of retirees who have found that they actually need to continue in some form of work after retirement, either to meet the bills every month, pay for their health insurance, or be able to enjoy themselves at this time of life when life is meant to be enjoyed.

Job Opportunities For Baby Boomers

What sort of "after retirement" job do you want? What sort of job opportunities for the baby boomers are there?

Do you want a regular job again or do you want to work from home?

It's important to scare yourself into doing something to secure a good financial future.Start re-thinking and re-planning for your future and that of your family. Make a list of your options and then decide what action to take.

A good idea would be to seek out the advice of a good financial planner. Yes, they charge a fee, but good professional advice is worth it.

You'd pay for a good doctor to look after your health, expect to pay for good professional financial advice, but do your homework first.

Remember to consider all the possibilities that life might throw your and take action now.

Boomers nearing retirement have lots to think about.

Social Security will provide a lifestyle but is it the one you want?

Plan for your future and start today.

Baby Boomers and Network Marketing: An Unbeatable Combination

Baby boomers are really cool, really smart people. The writing is on the wall for those considering retirement. In many cases retirement income will need to be supplemented at the very least so many are looking for convenient ways to do this from home.

Network Marketing is an excellent business for them to get involved with. It is a business model that allows flexibility, mobility, and long term income.

It's a business that can be sold or left in a Will for the family to continue earning income from. It's a business you can share with people you care about as well as with strangers.

Most Network Marketing companies (not all of them), have really good products that customers want to continue to buy and use which is very important. They have products you can feel really great about promoting.

Most people aren't aware of the fact that many products from reputable network marketing companies are of better quality than those found in stores. Why?

Because these companies spend money not spent on advertising, like traditional companies, on research and development. Always improving and adding to make them the best in the market.

  • Many (not all) have reasonable if not great pay plans for those who join the business.
  • Many (not all) allow sales via the internet.
  • Some (not all) allow you to expand your business to include people joining from many countries around the world seamlessly.
  • Some (not many) are built to last. These companies will stand the test of time and be there for generations to come.
  • ALL can be built with techniques using the internet, learning how to actually have customers or prospects chasing you asking to be part of your opportunity or wanting to buy your products.

So, when I say that baby boomers are cool and really smart I mean they know a good thing when they see it.

Network Marketing has changed. The internet and attraction marketing has made it "more attractive" to those wanting to add to their retirement income.
