Retirement Income For The Single Woman
63
Are you a single woman of the Baby Boomer generation wondering where your retirement income is going to come from?
Successful retirement means having enough income to maintain your desired lifestyle, your retirement home, your health care and your leisure activities. A lifestyle that you have enjoyed or are enjoying during your working years.
If your major concern about your retirement is the lack of funds to live comfortably...
I know where you're coming from. I live pay check to pay check and try my best to save something from each pay to put toward my retirement fund. I am able to save a little every year and then something happens that requires that I drain those savings to pay for some emergency. Needless to say I am not getting anywhere this way!
If you are without a spouse or partner you have only one income coming into your household, making it extremely hard to save. If you're working, you are more than likely making less income yearly than most men do. Older, unmarried women are the most at risk for poverty. Pensions received by women are usually worth less than those received by men. And women tend to live longer than men. They have lower lifetime earnings than men because of broken working years and part-time jobs, because of having and raising children, or changing jobs looking for something that pays better or offers better benefits.
With life expectancy now being approximately 90 years of age instead of 75 to 80 years of age, you can expect to live 25 to 30 years in your retirement. That's a scary thought when you don't know where your next pay check is coming from. If you have failed to save or have been unable to save for your retirement, you are probably actively looking for ways to generate an additional income now, as well as into your retirement years. If you would prefer to work from home, but don't want to disrupt your current lifestyle too much, there is an opportunity that actually will meet those requirements.
The internet and a home based business could be the answer to a substantial retirement income.

Hi, I found your information very helpful. As a Certified Life Planning Coach, I too found that I had not started planning soon enough. I agree that working at home and being invoved in Internet Marketing is the key to having those "hedge funds" funds we all thought about when we were younger but did not take the proper action to make it happen. Now, we can!

I can see who your target market is. Well done. Single women of retirement age certainly need to explore their options. Even married women should consider their financial future in regards to planning and protecting themselves.
Well done for a first hub.

Welcome to HubPages! I'm about to turn 55 so am well aware of what you say - up till a couple of years ago, I was looking at a solo retirement. However I recently remarried which (as I say in my profile) just goes to show there's romance after 50!
Good luck with your endeavours. I recommend you search out some of Darkside's Hubs on how to improve the layout of your Hubs, it will pay dividends.
