Return of the Cable Streetcars
49Maybe the midwest needs to bring back the cable streetcars as an alternative to bus lines and heavy amounts of traffic. As a child, we use to ride the 8 miles of rail to get to the downtown area. It was a fun ride and smooth with the exception of the slight swaying from side to side.
The operation ceased in 1966 and the alternative method of transportation took over, bus lines. As time moved on we developed another method which is used daily called the Metrolink system. An above ground rail system that runs to various parts of the city and the airport.
I would really like to see the return of the cable streetcar system in an attempt to cut back on automobile traffic which totally jams our area primarily Monday through Friday.
