A psychological perspective on Winnie the Pooh and Friends... (Nothing serious...)
Don't get me wrong... I've always loved winnie the pooh since I was a kid. Back then, it's all too benign and innocent... Just like the characters of Sesame Street that we have all become endeared to. And then you realize that Count is Obsessive Compulsive and Elmo has a tendency to slip into fantasy world. Back then, I never really saw Ernie and Bert as gay... But later on, you realize, hey... why are 2, seemingly unrelated guys living in 1 room? You get the point.... (We'll get to that later on...)
Now, going back to Winnie the Pooh and his gang from Hundred Acres Woods. Growing up, your perspective tends to change in time like when you've always wondered why we all became suckers for "Happily Ever After" and then you realize, that notion is a sham. A big myth grown ups try to instill in us to "teach us to be a lady to swept off the ground by a dashing prince charming. There's no happily ever afters... Only happy new beginnings and bitter endings. And there's more to life than being swept off our feet by Prince Charmings who eventually turn to beasts fast forward 3-4 years in a relationship.
I'm no Psychology graduate, though I did take some units on the subject... (If Psych 101 counts). I do enjoy the subject so much though.
Let's start with Pooh Bear... Mumbling, Fumbling Pooh bear with a strange fixation on honey, thus the obesity. Repetitive and compulsive counting and mannerisms? Sounds like Obsessive Compulsive disorder to me. I dunno. Maybe I'm right or then again, maybe I'm wrong. Also displays a slight inclination to Tourette's syndrome with the compulsive and repetitive mannerisms, much like Piglet... OH.. dddear..... And did I mention? his IQ is slightly below average... Blame it on Christopher Robin for dragging him down the stairs by his foot and his head consistently bumping on the stairs.
And what of Piglet? Anxiety disorder. That display of perpetual negativism isn't doing him any good. He's always anxious and pessimistic about alot of things. A prozac or 2 won't hurt Piglet. Always look at the bright side of life.
With Eeyore... Always in the lethargic state. My first guess was clinical depression but then the negativism and poor self image suggests borderline disorder. I dunno... you be the judge. Again, vitamins and a doze of Prozac would help...
Tigger's penchant for risky activities, hyperactivity and disruptiveness is characteristic of ADHD. Then again, his hypermania suggests Bipolar personality disorder. Either way, he's no good example to Roo.
Now, let's turn to rabbit. Doesn't he remind you a bit of Squidworth from Spongebob Squarepants? KInda. At first look, he may have been the sanest of the bunch, but look closer. Rabbit tends to be a bit Narcissistic. His feeling of self importance and consistent need to be in control of everyone displays an inclination to megalomania. Careful Rabbit... or You'll end up joining the league of diabolical villains with world domination in mind. Added to that, his obsession with organization is a characteristic of Obsessive Compulsive disorder. It's no wonder why he's agitated when Tigger leaves a trail of destruction on his garden.
Roo is the most vulnerable of them all. At a very young and delicate age, he has 2 very bad adult figures to look up to. There's Kanga, the overbearing single mom and there's Tigger, the destructive, bouncy flouncy pal. Kanga's overprotectiveness might bring about Oedipal Complex which might later on restrict Kanga's social life and possiblity of dating again. There's also the issue of gender identity crisis where later in life, he might very well identify himself with his mother too much. Worst case scenario would be another remake of an Ed Gein. Imagine how gruesome it is to find Roo later on dressing up in in a female Kangaroo skin.
Morbidity Aside, let's tackle Roo's other role Model: Tigger. Tigger's inclination to doing risky things might endanger the life of Roo and might eventually turn him into a juvenile delinquent : A young rebel who has a problem with conformity, wreaking havoc anywhere he goes.
Let's just hope he'd have a better role model like... perhaps Owl?
Last but not the Least, Christopher Robin. Though he may seem like a normal young lad on the outside... But then, HE does have a streak of psychosis. His tendency to slip into fantasy world where his teddy bear and other stuffed animal talk is rather scary... Even for a 10 year old with a wild imagination.

didn't take the Pooh test...maybe later....loved the hub! But think I prefer to remember Pooh as simply "willy nilly silly all stuffed with fluff". My younger daughter, much shier when young that her older sister, LOVED Piglet, because when the going got scary...little Piglet always came through...mustering his courage and facing his fears.
