Internet Horrors Part 2: Revenge of the WEBMASTERS

Back when the internet first started ads were static so I treated them as magazine ads. Since they were behaving themselves I'd look over occasionally and often click. Obviously the WEBMASTERS weren't getting enough clicks so they created a monster called the pop-up. We defeated the pop ups years ago in a battle royale with anti pop-up devices and only occasionally now does one get to rear it's ugly head. Offended, the WEBMASTERS went back to their dark caves and unleashed an all out assault. Ads now moved, slid over, talked (way too loud of course) took on human form and walked across the screen (Hey, that's MY screen!) How about the one where the ad follows you as you scroll down the screen. Another ad chased my pointer around as I sat there trying to shake it off like a crab. That one really made me see red as it was the first time I actually had a fight with an ad. This ad barrage only annoyed me and I refused to have anything to do with the company that threw such an ad in my face and I would immediately leave the site. At WEBMASTERS central they received the word that these ads were making people mad. Arrogant as they are they planned JUDGEMENT DAY. Within the last couple of months or so came their latest monster. I started reading at a site for car reviews when suddenly my screen darkens and I can't do anything anymore. I can barely see the text I was reading, and there in the middle of the screen is the AD. In order to continue I must acknowledge this ad by clicking at the very least "no thanks" So basically this is the WEBMASTERS form of hostage taking. Of course I hit the back button to wrangle my way out of the jam (sometimes this doesn't work either and you get "Are you sure you want to leave?" and then, "press no to stay and yes to remain on the page, which means your staying whatever you do) and didn't return to the site. My message to websites and advertisers is this. We come in peace. Don't annoy us off by making us click. Refrain from aggressive ads. Do you really think we are going to do business with a company whose ad annoys us? Have some style, some grace, because your targets don't like getting pushed around.
