Reverse Racism? No Just Racism!

Even though slavery was abolished by white people somehow people have forgotten this fact. Senator Barack Obama is also guilty of this when he decided to overlook the fact that it was President Johnson who was responsible for ending segregation. For some reason now in days a white person cannot criticize a black person without being labeled a racist. Doesn’t equal rights mean equal in every respect and not just the positive? You shouldn’t be able to cherry pick the good and bad that come with equal rights, you should have to take the good with the bad. The press is tentative and afraid to say anything negative about a black presidential candidate because in modern society white people are seen as the bad guy. Black people are not the only race of people in History to be enslaved and treated as dirt. For some reason society decides to overlook what happened to the Irish and the Scottish, two white races of people who were kicked around and treated like dirt. Even though a blockbuster movie was made about the struggle (Brave Heart) society still forgets about the Irish and the Scottish and what they went through. These two white races were also looked down upon in America until they fought so bravley for this country in the Civil war. When you bring up other mistreated races of people (such as the Jews) black people will often argue that their situation was much worse because they went through it for 200 years. Well by that logic the Celtic races (Irish and Scotish) must top the charts going through their hell for 800 years. Unlike the black race these races actually had to fight for their freedom while blacks where simply set free by the “evil” white people. What’s the deal? Equality for everyone that’s what everyone is preaching right? This means everyone is held to the same standard, but somewhere along the line this simply isn’t the case. We have hit equal rights and continue pass it making things unequal in a different direction. In fact we are digressing and taking rights away from white people. Think about it. Can a black person not be hired because of their race? Nope! Can a white person not be hired for being white? Yes, I have actually been told this while handing in an application. “Sorry we can’t hire any white people we need to hire a minority because of Affirmative action”. If that happened to a black person it would be plastered all over the news and something would have been done about it, but because I’m white and this is the law I have to just accept it. Women are constantly discriminated against, but where is their Affirmative action?

When a black person is being racist against a white person it’s known as reverse racism. The term alone suggest that hating someone for being white is not a racist act. In fact it suggests it’s the opposite. In an equal society racism would be racism no matter the color of someone’s skin.

Your points of view are extremely intriguing... I'm sorry about affirmative action, but if it makes you feel better, many minorities don't agree with the policy, including me. It's an insult, if you ask me.

Why not stick to the issues and leave race and sex out of the discussion? They are not relevant.

I think we first must accept that we are all just a little bit racist. Then we must take a look at why this happens and open the discussion.Humans have a history of enslavement, across the planet. That doesn't make it correct. Yet we continue to point fingers at each other instead of learning from this wretched mistakes.I agree, racism has no gears. No forward, no back. Yet we are encapsulated in a system that covertly allows apartheid on many levels. Once we collectively can see that it's systematic, and stop blaming the individual (or stop the distractions from high up), we can then work to actually fix the problems. It's the system that's broke, not the people.

How stupid do you have to be to say that race is not relivant to an article about race. Notice there is no question mark because my thoughts are retorical and the answer is too obvious for a question to be seriousely asked.

In the issue of race I think it's pretty fair to say I'm sticking to the issues when I'm talking about race. You know like in the issue of cake baking where people will stay on issue and talk about baking cakes.

Did you even read this article or are you one of those cowardly blow hards that are afraid to talk about the serious racial issues this country faces so when ever you hear anything related to race, instead of talking about the issue to bring a change, you automatically get scared and react with the default answer of "Why not stick to the issues and leave race and sex out of the discussion? They are not relevant."

Do you really think you're impressing anybody because you say something uncontroversal even though it doesn't make any damn sense? Really I want to know. I'm curious if idiots (such as yourself) think they are impressing people by saying things that are dumb as hell.

Looks to me like you're Hub is about Obama and why people shouldn't support him disguised as an article about reverse racism which is a sad excuse offered by whites who are having a hard time making it. It could have been written by Sean Hannity.

Often people’s perceptions are based on what they want to see. Obama was hardly mentioned in this Hub but yet that’s what you focus on. By your logic your saying that "regular racism" is a sad excuse offered by blacks who are having a hard time making it. Your statements could have been written by "Corky" from "Life Goes On".

No, it's not. Racism against minorities is present in many areas of life in America--education, mortgage interest rates and terms, hiring and many others. INcome disparity has increased and de facto segregation has increased in recent years.

In a capitalist nation it’s not fair to say income disparity equals racism. Now in days the only color that matters in business is green. It very well can be a matter of where blacks struggle whites thrive and visa versa. Take professional sports for example. I can assure you the pay there is not equal amongst white and black players. I know black players make much more money, but that’s ok because they offer more in their field than white players.

The problem with education is not a matter of race either, it’s a matter of social classes, both poor white people and poor black people are over looked when it comes to social funding.

Mortgage interest rates and terms are a matter of credit. A black man and a white man with equal credit will be offered an equal mortgage.

De facto segregation really isn’t a huge concern. We are all equal but different, so we spread out to live in places where we can be around people of the same culture who we are more comfortable with.

Paw Passion, I could not agree with you more. I think Obama made a "great black speech", but like the Japanese did when they bombed Peal Harbor, THEY WOKE THE SLEEPING GIANT...WHITES IN AMERICA.... I am sick of Obama and his wife. I am glad she is finally proud of America. Blacks act like we went to africa to get them , they forget history. We pulled up to the dock and their own people were selling them into slavery. We didnt have to go get them. If mister preacher man hates it here so bad, go to Africa and live there.

I know it's a touchy subject that for some reason society will not allow any kind of sympathy to white people on the matter of race. I'm finally glad to hear from someone who has some balls to agree with me on this subject.

There is no denying that what the preacher said was racist and anti-American, and scared white people who are afraid to be labeled a racist keep making excuses for his words. Denying the facts only pushes us back further instead of addressing the problem. I really can't see why people just refuse to get this. I am white, I'm proud, and that doesn't make me racist!
