Not new, but worth reviewing!

Written and directed by Troy Duffy, The Boondock Saints is an original surprising take on the action/mafia genre that is rarely original. In every other great action/mafia movie I have seen the plot is always the same. We follow a mafia guy around as he and his crew commit bloody crimes while he narrates and tells us the story behind his crew and or how he came to be in the mafia. You will not find that here. The Boondock Saints movie is about justice!

THE PLOT: Two Irish fraternal twin brothers, played by Sean Patrick Flannery and Norman Reedus, find them selves the accidental murderers of two Russian mobsters. After turning themselves into the police they awake with a mission they believed is delivered by God to rid the streets of evil, more specifically the Russian Mob. While on thier murderess mission FBI agent Paul Smecker remains two steps behind, tracking every crime they committ, befudled by their mysterious identities.

It represents everything I just said NOT to do in my last Hub.Two fraternal twins taking justice in to thier own hands against the mafia! While it offends my beliefs, I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

The Boondock Saints official trailer

It is all about opposites attract!

This movie is the exact opposite of everything I just wrote about in my last hub. Their is violence and people taking justice into their own hands. It is offensive and addictive. Something about this movie is just amazing. While I may not agree that we have the right to decide who lives and dies, sometimes it feels good to watch the bad guy get shot down (in a fictional movie only). You feel justified as they continue to get bad guy after bad guy and quoting their Irish family prayer. You feel offended yet love agent Smecker as he blurts out offensive gay slurs all the while getting drunk in a gay bar. This movie is brilliantly refreshing!

SO MANY GREAT CHARCTERS!

Willem Dafoe, I don't know if there is a role this man can't play well. He plays the role of a gay, sarcastic, intense, and crass FBI agent, with the dryest sense of humor I have ever seen. He attacks each seen with such conviction and intensity.

The two brothers, Sean Patrich Flannery and Normum Reedus, brilliantly portray the impoverish Irish brothers living in an Irish neighborhood in Boston, who by accident end up on a mission to kill. You fall in love with their fun "Irish guy" nature and their attachment to each other.

I can't review this movie with out mentioning the "side Kick". They call him "Funny Man Rocco". He is the goofy drug addict playing personal assistant to the Russian Mob and inside man to the brothers. He is goofy, nervous, and terribley stupid and entertaining.

There are so many small characters in this movie that play a big part in what makes this movie GREAT! Some other characters you might enjoy are Billy Conolly the man behind the brothers, plays an assasin hired by the mob, and you can expect a couple camios from Ron Jeremy.

SUM IT UP!

You may think this movie is not for you. That is what I thought when my friend recommended it to me. Now I am recommending it to you! From a woman's perspective, it was worth watching for the eye candy alone, but there is more to this movie then just eye candy. It raises some interesting questions such as: Is killing a killer a justified murder? Is there such a thing as justified murder? How would you feel if you knew there were people going around killing the "bad guys" in your neighborhood?

All in all this movie is a winner for me and for many others. It is becoming a cult classic among movie fans of all kinds. From the amazing writing, direction, and acting, this movie really BRINGS IT, so to speak. Give it a chance and check it out!

I love that movie. My favourite small charecter is diffinitely the old blind ex Mafia boss who gives advice out while throwing urinal cakes into the toliets. Just so wonderfully random.

A nasty, beautiful, and insightful fim that is in my movie cabinet. I have a friend with a latin phrase from the movie tattooed on her back that I believe means "truth and justice"

You know they are currently filming Boondock Saints 2! I was in the process of writing my first Hub page about it when it showed your page as related link...I even got that same dumb ad "flab to fab' i wonder what keyword brings that out.

Anyway great review and yep Boondock saints 2 is coming out in spring 09!
