It's been 20 years in the making and boy did we miss Indiana Jones, but does this film hold up to the rest?

Warning Spoilers.

This is a great film for the younger crowd to learn about Indiana Jones. It has action, a little bit of comedy, big special effects, and doesn't take itself too seriously. But for those of us that remember the Indiana Jones trilogy of the 80's this might not be the drug fix that we need.

The movie follows a now much older Indiana Jones who find himself in yet another jam with a mysterious woman searching for a lost city. The fabled city of gold. There she believes that if she returns a crystal skull it will unlock a psychic power that will give her power over the minds of all of mankind. Which of course because she is the villian means she will use it as a weapon, which she feels is revenge for the atom bomb.

Sounds like it reads right out of a comic book, huh?

For those of you out there that don't know, crystal skulls are real. They have been found through out the Americas. But if you look up these skulls you will have a very different view than the one the movie gives.

The film goes on to show us that funny looking little aliens that came down years ago (they throw in Roswell) have a crystal skeleton inside.

That took me right out of the movie, and there was no going back.

Now you throw in a forced story line about Indiana Jones having a love child with the woman from the old Indiana Jones film, and his friend of 20 years being corrupt and money hungry and you have something that will make screenplay writers all over Hollywood re-think formulaic writing.

Now this is a fun big budget pop corn flick, don't get me wrong. But don't get your expectations up too high. See this as it's own movie and not a sequel to an Indiana Jones movie and you should have a blast!

Thanks for the review. My husband was telling me that this might be a rental from what he's read...
