Nautilus is one of the premier elliptical manufacturers today, making high-end ellipticals for gyms and home gyms alike. Now if this elliptical seems a little pricey, which it definitely is, I’d recommend either looking for a used model, or maybe searching for an elliptical more in your price range. NordicTrack, Sole, Smooth, and Schwinn some great elliptical manufacturers that offer some cheaper alternatives. With the strength of this elliptical and the name behind it, there is not much to dislike about this product, lets go over some of its great features.
The Nautilus NE 3000 Elliptical Trainer
The best aspect of this elliptical is the self-generating
resistance. This means that the harder you push, the more counter
resistance the elliptical will put up. This also means that you don’t
have to be plugged into a wall outlet at all times, and you can place
the elliptical where you want, inside or outside of your home. Don’t
get too excited though, as this elliptical trainer weighs a lot, so you don’t want to be moving it around too much.
The
heart-rate control feature is great, you can choose a steady heart rate
that you want to stay at throughout your workout, and the elliptical
monitors it and adjusts resistance to keep you at that rate the whole
time. This is especially good for those of you who are looking to
condition yourselves and build your stamina.
This elliptical, like many others that Nautilus
makes, features their patented SyncLink technology. This technology has
articulating foot platforms that monitor the natural movement of you
legs and feet, and make your workout more comfortable as well as safer
for your knees and hips. This machine is also great for those late
night workouts when you don’t want to wake anyone up. It has Poly-V
belt resistance, which is extremely quiet. Now lets get into some
weaknesses of this elliptical.
The biggest setback to
buying this elliptical, would be its power/electrical problems. It has
been known to glitch and power off during users workouts. Losing your
calories burned and heart-rate information while working out is the
last thing you want to happen. Also, for the price of $2499.00, this elliptical should
be able to support a little more weight. There are ellipticals out
there that can support 400 + lbs, that are cheaper than the Nautilus NE
3000.
Although this elliptical is built with commercial-grade
qualities, and has some great features that you won’t find on many
other ellipticals, I cannot recommend it. You simply cannot afford to
buy this elliptical and then experience the electrical problems that it
is known to have. I would recommend reading many other reviews of ellipticals before going out and buying one, especially in this price range.
