Samsung has always been my top choice company when it comes to sexy high end electronics, without the un-attractive high end prices. Don't get me wrong though, Samsung can sport a pretty wallet sulking price tag at times, but sometimes you come across a pretty decent deal that you cannot walk away from.

I personally was in the market a few months ago for a new monitor. I was sick of my clunky space hogging old school monitor, that seemed to flip my eyes out. I also had recently purchased a Samsung HDTV, a slim sexy thing it was, however my monitor, it didn't match the new upgrade my bedroom took on with the new HDTV.

I didn't go out seeking Samsung though when it came to a new monitor. I simply wanted a slim, sleek black LCD monitor. I didn't want to spend any more than $300, so I figured Samsung would be out of the picture.

After browsing all of the available monitors though at a local Best Buy, I actually went with a Samsung due to it's sleek design, and near match to my HDTV. I liked the screen, I liked the sleek black frame, and I liked how slim it was.

The particular model I went with was the Samsung 22 inch, LCY SyncMaster 2232BW.

The monitor looked fantastic next to all of the other monitors the store had on display.

The screen was sharp, crystal clear, bright and easy on my eyes. I suffer from eye fatigue at times from looking at monitors all day long while working on my PC, and I figured this one would offer some relief.

The 2232BW came to only $269.99 at the time, and it felt like a good deal, especially considering its nice large size, and gorgeous appearance.

One thing though that I was not thrilled with though was the ugly white text logo Samsung Syncmaster located on the far upper right hand corner of the monitor. It seemed tacky, and I would have liked if it came without it.

The Samsung logo is also located on the bottom middle of the monitors frame. This logo I don't mind, but with all of the other additional texts on the frame, I was not all that thrilled. Although I wasn't overly fond of the 'over kill logos', I still went ahead with my purchase, because it didn''t bother me all that much... just a little.

The screen itself is a full 22 inches with a 1680x1050 resolution. To better put it- the screens image is sharp. No dead pixels, and full of rich color.

My eyes were in heaven.

Setting the Samsung Syncmaster 2232BW up was a cinch. The monitor comes with a DVI chord, and a power chord. It also comes with a based that easily snaps and locks into place. Once in place the monitor can be moved back and forth to adjust the viewing area. It however cannot be rotated to the left or the right. Rotation would have been nice, but not having a rotating monitor is not a big deal. It was odd though that Samsung chose to allow you to move the monitor up and and down slightly, but not left to right for angle adjustments.

Another issue I came across while setting up the monitor was the fact that the DVI and power chord placements are located at the very back of the monitor. The plugs plug up into it, which allows the chords to easily slip out. While moving the monitor around, I had the DVI cable slip out a few times, which was very annoying. I had to make sure I really had the cable tightened otherwise it would just fall right out.

With the small issues aside though, the Samsung LCD SyncMaster 2232BW Monitor is a beauty. It only weighs in at 11 pounds, and is very slim. Adjusting the colors, tones, and clarity are located by pressing the small navigation buttons on the lower left hand side of the monitor.

When you power on the monitor a very cool colored ice blue ring surrounds the monitors on button. It's nice, and fitting with the Samsung company, and is not distracting to the eyes.

All in all, for the price I paid, I really love the monitor. It does have it's quirks as I mentioned, but is a very decent sized monitor, and has a lovely crisp screen.
