When I sat to write this hub I wanted to review a book I've recently read, well actually not read, but listened to, and I wanted to target this hub towards people in sales and marketing. Yet the more I've wrote, the more I began to realize that the skills of persuasion and influence are needed by EVERYONE! In fact I've been long a student of the human psychology and have been aware of these persuasion techniques for a few years. Specifically I got very interested in hypnosis. I remember one of my original mentors in his seminars put it this way:

It is not difficult to put people into trance. What is difficult is to bring people from the trance they are living in every day.

That seminar opened my eyes to the power of hypnosis and influence and ever since then I've been searching for more and more tools that would give me more knowledge into the dynamics of the mind. I've started to look at everything to determine why we are influenced by some things and not by others. Being in direct selling industry I always wondered why same product can be sold in tons by some, and yet I would still struggle with few. What makes some presenters spellbinding? And here is what I began to find out through my observations.

How many of us have been to sales and marketing seminars and trainings, listened to training tapes and spend countless hours going out there to market and sell our services, products or maybe even ourselves? Yet out of all the training and experience few of them explain why we are told to do this or that. Why do you want to keep the prospect in this state. Why is it important to say this and not that, and when do you "close" the sale, get them to say yes to you?

Maybe you are in marketing, and you wonder why you've written a masterpiece, which draws no responses? What is the missing piece?

I've always asked these questions, and finally I began to see the answers after an incident in my martial arts class. I was attempting to do a specific kick and kept failing to do it properly. In fact my frustrations went on for weeks! Numerous senior students showed me how they executed the kick yet I could not. One day one of the most senior students spent 10 minutes explaining to me the concept first, then showed me the correct positioning and then the technique. I attempted to execute the kick, and presto! Aha! I needed someone to explain to me why and how it worked, and then I could do it myself.

So where am I going with all of this? Well recently I've picked up a book by Joe Vitale titled Buying Trances. I was fascinating by the book because it went over many of the selling techniques I knew, and it also explained how all of us are in our own trances. So how do we get a person to go from their trance into ours?

This book is an amazing tool because it explains how hypnotic state is an everyday phenomenon. How were are all in it. Those who wants more influence in their life need to learn how it works. This is beyond simple sales tricks and tips.

Many sales and marketing techniques that are being taught to us are passed from one trainer to the other, from the original masters through the generations of trainers, down to us. Did the person who taught you understand trance states and hypnotic suggestions? If not, then read this book and connect the missing dots.

My original mentor in hypnosis taught me quite a few of the hypnotic techniques of influences and persuasion. Yet even he did not go as deep or as practical tools as Dr. Vitale does in his book Buying Trances. In addition, Dr. Vitale mentions numerous other authors for continuing reference and eduction. This book will be only the begging of your journey.
