Revolution Money Exchange Scam
79Is Revolution Money Exchange a Scam? No, but just like with anything you do, you can run the risk of being scammed. Unfortunately, since Revolution Money Exchange is in it's beta right now, they don't currently have any buyer or seller protection set up for their users. Unless, they just follow standard banking procedures, since they are backed by a bank, I suggest only trading funds with trusted members.
If you have any doubts at all of Revolution Money Exchange's (RME) legitimacy, just check out Revolution Money Exchange Legit? They use a Secure Server Locket (SSL) so you can be guaranteed any transactions you do with the company (not necessarily their members) will be guaranteed.
If you haven't signed up with RME yet, when you go to signup with them, they will ask for your email information. Be sure to enter the correct email address because they are backed by a Member FDIC Bank, and you are setting your account up online rather than in person, so this is the primary means of communication they will have with you. Also note, they do ask for your Social Security Number, but that is so they can check your credit report to make sure your information matches with who you say you are. When I set up my account, I forgot I applied an alert on my credit report a few years back and they required me to submit (via fax) proof of identity before I could open an account. Since 9/11 all banks require you to submit your SSN in order to set up an account with them.
Revolution Money Exchange is in it's beta and so far doesn't have any issues with phising, but just be on the lookout for it, and other scams, if you do become a member of RME. I checked out the APWG website and couldn't tell if Revolution Money Exchange was one of their members. They do have some info listed on the BBB site, but as of writing this are "not a BBB Accredited business." I also checked First Bank and Trust in SD and they too are "not a BBB Accredited business." So far, I don't see any reports against them on Ripoff-Report, Screwed Central, or Complaints dot com.
Now there will always be scammers or people who will not satisfy their end of an agreement, and because of this I believe RME member protection should be a priority on their list. I haven't seen any problems with people receiving payments from them, but I have read on a forum that an RME member did a swap with another RME member and they never received their merchandise. I'm not sure if they ever tried to file a complaint with RME or not...
