Rhyl in North Wales is a great place to take a relaxing holiday with your family by the sea. Situated in a fantastic place within north Wales, and being close to other great holiday destinations, Rhyl is an extremely popular tourist destination. Rhyl is situated within a close drive of Llandudno, Conwy, Prestatyn, Caernarfon, Betws-y-Coed, and lots of Welsh historical castles. Rhyl is also within close distance of Snowdonia national park where Snowdon is situated the highest mountain in Wales and England.

Rhyl is very popular for holidays and vacations because it has lots of Rhyl caravan parks, and holiday parks, where you can stay for a reasonable price on your holiday. Rhyl is also extremely accessible to people who live all around the UK via the train, straightforward roads, and even Liverpool and Manchester airport.

Sea Aquarium

Rhyl has a sea aquarium, which kids will love. You can visit the sea aquarium where you will sea lots of different types of underwater animals, from tropical to freshwater. Also here they are many displays and talks, where you can widen your underwater animal knowledge, which take place daily throughout the day. A discount is available for families.


Sandy Beaches

Rhyl has six miles of sandy beach between Rhyl and Prestatyn. This is ideal for any family holiday. Here you can enjoy a nice family day in the sand building sandcastles, playing sports, swimming, or maybe even donkey riding.

Children's Complex

Rhyl also has its mini children’s complex. This includes a large range of restaurants, and children’s rides. Next to here is also a large cinema, which offers the latest movies to keep the whole family entertained. Near the children’s complex s Rhyl’s famous Sky Tower, which is 180metres high. You can ride on the Sky Tower which will take you to its summit where you will be able to see all of Rhyl and the surrounding areas.


Brickfields Pond

Also in Rhyl is its very own nature reserve Brickfields Pond. This is a beautiful relaxing area where the whole family can enjoy a day out. Here Rhyl has Britain’s oldest miniature train line, which has been taking people around the nature reserve for the last 80years. Also at Brickfields you can go on the sculpture trail, do some fishing, or watch some of the reserves beautiful wildlife. This is also a great place to take a picnic, and just spend the day relaxing by the lake.

Another great attraction of Rhyl is its fantastic location. Rhyl is within close distance to other great tourist destinations throughout North Wales, making Rhyl a popular choice of location to stay when visiting other areas of North Wales


Llandudno

Rhyl is within a short train, car, or bus ride from Llandudno, a popular tourist destination and Victorian town. Here there are loads more things to do. Llandudno had a great shopping canter with high street names, combined with more traditional shops. Llandudno also has a Victorian pier full of shops, and pubs and cafes. Llandudno is also home to the great Orme, a large limestone which offers a dry ski slope, cable cars, a tram ride to the summit, and copper mines.


Conwy and other Historical Towns and Castles

Rhyl is also a short distance away from Conwy, a beautiful town situated at the estuary of the Conwy River, surrounded by its own historical castle. Here there is the beautiful marine, and Conwy is full of souvenir shops, craft shops, restaurants, and pubs. Rhyl is also within a close distance from many other historical towns and castles like Caernarfon, Beaumaris, Dolbadarn, and Dolwyddelan


Snowdonia National Park

Rhyl is also a short car ride away from Snowdonia National Park. A beautiful park which covers an area of 838 square miles. Here you can take beautiful walks with fantastic scenery. The highest mountain in Wales and England is situated within Snowdonia national park; here you can walk to the summit or take the train.

The Future of Rhyl

With the recent economic decline Rhyl has seen a small decline in tourism. Due to this a number of projects are underway or being proposed to regenerate its tourism. Projects included are an £85 million Ocean Complex on the site of the late Ocean Beach Fun Fair, and Drift Park development on the promenade. The west end of Rhyl is also receiving a makeover and a £4 million pound investment into Rhyl Collage.

Rhyl really is a great place for holidays and short breaks, with all the tourist attractions around North Wales, and the many activities for kids. With future projects underway and more proposals to regenerate the town, Rhyl will be bursting with more energy than ever. Rhyl really is somewhere where everyone should visit, and if you have a family it's a great place to take the kids.
