Dire Predictions!

I am really not a doom-and-gloom prognosticator, but if the right things aren't done about this 2008 Wall Street Investment Bank Crisis, America will be paying a very costly piper in the years to come.

My father and I are dealing with the mortgage crisis. The rate we had on a 2004 re-finance of our home resulted in a 100 year-plus payoff! ABSURD! Who can afford that! We have stopped payment on this atrocity and are renting a home.

Now, that mortgage crisis turned out to be only a precursor of a bigger one, the collapse of American mega-investment banks. The financial tragedy that was hurting home "owners" nationally has now turned into a potential national disaster which may cause worse problems.

I am no expert on finance or the economy, but I can see the writing on the Wall Street. Yes, Congress may bail out these banks with an obscene sack of cash, but what next? Suppose this does not really stop the problem and confidences continue to wane while interest rates climb (and maybe the oil market continues its crisis)? If our banking system and government cannot handle the load of what is to come, I forsee a growing dependence on countries like China (and who knows who else) to bail our nation out of more debt. Then we'll owe increased political favors to countries that don't agree at all with our idealology. This will put a clamp on our abilities to defend ourselves against the agression of nations that we are in bed with economically. We do NOT need to be bought out any more by foreign nations and have our independence sabotaged! China already has a big hold in American investments, not to mention countless manufacturing contracts with U.S. companies.

I don't know what the solution is. If you have faith in God, pray for our country. Or speak out on alternative repairs to this oncoming disaster. This problem is literally one we as a nation cannot afford.
