Robin Williams

Robin Williams... You may know him from movies such as: What Dreams May Come,  Hook,  August RushGood Morning, Vietnam,  Patch Adams, and The Night Listener. (Plus many, many more!)

Robin Williams was born in Chicago, on July 21st, 1952. As a child, he was very overweight, and the other children shunned him, and refused to play with him. He apparently started talking in different voices just to amuse himself, and look where it got him!

He graduated from Redwood High School, in Larkspur, California, where he was voted "Least likely to succeed" by his fellow peers. (How odd...) He eventually went on to college, played soccer, and became very well known, because of his sense of humor.

Robin Williams also studied at Julliard, with Christopher Reeve, and as a result, they became very good friends, and stayed that way until Christopher Reeve sadly passed away back in 2004. (Notice where the the movie, "August Rush" is based... and what it is about...)

Williams was voted "50th Greatest Movie Star of All Time" by Entertainment Weekly, and we all can see why. Every role he has played has been a success! From "Mork & Mindy", right up to "August Rush"! He has always come across (to me) as a big-hearted, thoughtful, smart and witty individual.

His role in "August Rush", as "Wizard", really surprised me, as he doesn't usually have that sort of role, but he played it like it was all natural. It just goes to show how talented he is. His talents are many, and his success has been reached...

His love of people is evident in his work, and in his life, and will continue to show up in his films, and in the media.

I love Robin but his greatest movie I beleive was Patch Adams.. He was meant for that movie and I personally don't think another actor could have even come close to the role he played in it. He diffenently is a great actor..

I use Robin Williams as an example for my kids. Everyone loves Robin Williams for something - comedy, acting, kindness. They don't like him because he is so darn good looking or wears the latest fashions. If you want to be popular for the reasons that matter, be like him. He may not have had many friends growing up, but he learned from that and found his inner beauty - that is what makes him so attractive.

My favorite movie of his is The Fisher King.
