The Robotic Vacuum
As technology continues to progress, so does the robotic vacuum. The Robotic vacuum is probably one of the best uses of robots in the commercial sector to date.
These robots have one purpose and one purpose only, to clean your floor. They intelligently move around your house sucking up crumbs, dirt, and anything else they can find. They do not complain about having to vacuum either. Even better, they will not run into walls and furniture leaving unsightly nicks and marks.
Robotic vacuum cleaners are very good at their jobs. Once you program them to vacuum what you want, they always obey. They are autonomous which means they create a kind of mental map of your house so that they know where you want them to go.
Plus, you can program them to do the vacuuming while you are away from home so that you do not have to worry about tripping over them or worse yet, getting in their way.
These wonderful little mothers helpers are compact, relatively inexpensive, and attractive. You do not have to pay them an allowance, feed them, or do their laundry. What more could you want?
I do not know anyone who likes to mop and clean tile floors. Guess what? There is even a special robot that can clean tile floors!
The robot is called the Scooba. The Scooba will clean tile and kitchen floors for you. It still is a bit more expensive than a robotic vacuum though.
The savvy robot uses a 4-stage cleaning system to clean most types of hard floors, including hardwood, tiles, vinyl, linoleum and stone. It is probably most useful for cleaning bathrooms and kitchens because they usually do not have mats or carpets. According to a review in PC Magazine, the Scooba sweeps, mops and even dries the floor. Unlike mopping with a mop and bucket which involves dirty water, the Scooba only uses clean water. This is a huge advantage and the floor apparently looks wonderfully clean and buffed according to most reviews.
The tank in the Scooba must be filled with a special Clorox cleaning solution. That is pretty much it. There are only two buttons, power and clean. The robot is smart enough to avoid obstacles, rugs, and carpets. One tank of cleaning solution will clean about 200 square feet. The Scooba will go underneath tables, around chairs, and below cabinet edges. It will pretty much go anywhere it can fit.
This robot floor cleaner will cost you about $380 USD. The cleaning solution is $20 a bottle and does not last very long. This was the only criticism I could see in the PC Magazine reviews. So before you spend this kind of money, take time to ponder your decision. Cleaning your hard floors yourself may be more work, but it certainly is going to cost you less money.
