Robotics in Your Life

This is the age of robotics, there’s no going back. Robotics is the term I give to all the automated, programmable, electronic devices that we use in our daily lives. They aren’t just for businesses – we have them in our homes too.
Not only do companies search for ways to simplify the work by automation, now they’re eliminating the personal touch completely!
I use robotics to start my morning so that I can awaken to that wonderful smell of fresh brewed coffee. It’s in my automatic coffee maker with a time set function. Before I finish my first cup, I start the vacuum cleaner. No, I’m not pushing it around the house either…..that’s the job of robotics. This little device sucks up the dirt and dust by maneuvering around the furniture or obstacles it hits. It simply changes directions when it runs into something and heads off in another direction to clean for me.
As I wander around the house with my routine, the home phone rings. So I run to see who’s calling me by checking my caller ID before I answer the phone. Ooops, I can’t read that tiny little message, so I reach for my glasses. (If you’ve read my other Hub, you know that I can’t wear contact lenses.)
Since my glasses are in the robotic eyeglass cleaner in the other room, I simply answer the phone. I don’t recognize the number, but I go ahead and answer it anyway. It’s an automated sales ad! Holy smokes, they aren’t even using people to call me anymore – it’s one of those automated recordings (robotics) that refers me to stay on the line or push a button to active a connection with a real person!
My glasses are being cleaned with a process that uses ultrasonic sound waves. It only takes a few minutes and doesn’t use harsh chemicals or cloths that scratch the lenses. I clean them everyday due to the smudges and fingerprints. It’s easy and a time-saver for me, I simply set them in my robotic eyeglass cleaner while I’m getting dressed. It duos as a jewelry cleaner too! Works great in keeping my precious stones polished and sparkling.
Consider all the automated devices in your home.
- Coffee maker with clock and time set device
- Answering machine
- Caller ID
- Voicemail
- Computer fax line integration
- Autoresponder for your email
- DVD recorder
- Vacuum cleaner
- Eyeglass cleaner
- Timer on your lights inside
- Photo sensors for your outside lights
Personally, I enjoy all the machine devices in my life because they make my life easier. I have more time to visit friends, write hubs, read books, shop, take vacations, play on the computer, exercise and do the things that bring me happiness.
Wonderful devices that help ME

it's that little one in the top picture. Even Sears sells them, but theirs is much more expensive than ones from Ebay or just flat Googling for Robotic vacuum cleaners.

Believe me, after being without power for 2 weeks after Hurricane Ike blew through, I appreciate everything electronic. What kind of vacuum goes around by itself?
