Rock of Love 2: Season Premiere

The season premiere of VH1's "Rock of Love 2" aired Sunday night, and I have to admit I don't think it was quite as entertaining as last season. There weren't any lap dances or girls running around in bikinis for attention, but nevertheless, it still was quite amusing.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the show, "Rock of Love" is a reality TV series that began last year starring Bret Michaels from the band Poison. There are 20 contestants who join the show, hoping to land a date with Bret. By the end of the show, he narrows it down to one girl. Last season, Bret was dumped by Jes (last season's winner), so they decided to air a second season.

Last night's episode was similar to last season's premiere: 20 girls ran around a mansion all fighting for Bret's attention. This season was a little different, however, because the entire show seemed like one giant makeout session after another. Last season, each girl who was fighting for Bret's attention would at least have a conversation with him. Last night, it seemed like every girl only wanted to get Bret alone to makeout with him. It was like a "seven minutes in heaven" competition. There was one girl who refused to kiss him because he had just kissed nineteen other girls. Although the other girls made fun of her for it (saying she had a germ phobia), I think she has a valid point.

The show began with a photo shoot, which quickly turned into a topless competition. That wouldn't be my ideal first impression to make on someone I was trying to date, but I think once the first girl does it, the rest feel they have to live up to the expectation.

Next came time for all the girls to have a few drinks and try to get some solo time with Bret. I tried to predict who is going to win the show, but no one seemed to stick out last night. Last year, Jes stuck out like a sore thumb because she was really pretty and had a certain charm about her that everyone loved. I had a feeling she would win. This year might be a little harder to figure out.

My first instinct was that Megan would win. She was the first contestant whot met Bret. She is tall, blonde and has legs that go on for miles. She is gorgeous. I was convinced she would be the winner until she opened her mouth. Then I reconsidered. She wasn't very intelligent.

The next contestant that met with him was Destiny. She was pretty also, but I'm convinced she was a hyena in a past life. All this girl did was laugh uncontrollably. She reminded me of the crazy girl in the movie "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" that laughs at everything and has that crazy look in her eye. Bret even described her as "the perfect psycho-fan to either make sweet love to me... or kill me."

The highlight of the show was Courtney: the girl who drank so much whiskey that she actually slept through the elimination at the end of the show. Hey, there's one in every crowd right?

At the end of the show, Bret eliminated five girls (Courtney obviously being one of them) and kept the remaining 15. Judging from the previews of the upcoming season, it looks like we're in for an interesting ride. He even brings back Lacey and Heather from last season to star in future episodes.
