Let me fill you in on a little secret...YOU CAN MAKE MONEY BY TESTING GAMES BUT YOU NEED TO BEWARE OF THE "TOURNAMENT TRAP".
There are some game tester sites that will say you can make $200 (or more) from online gaming. The ‘trick' is that you enter into tournaments and if you win, you win a cash prize for only a few hours of gaming. Not only do you have to spend thousands of hours perfecting your game, there is still huge risk and heavy competition. This is not how professional game testers make money, in fact far from it.
So before you read on, let me assure you that YOU CAN MAKE MONEY AS A GAME TESTER, you just need to know the "in's" of how the professional game testers do it, where to apply for jobs (yes, game testing is a "job", but more on this in a minute), and what your responsibilities are.
The first question you may have is: why would companies pay money for people to play games? Well, let's take your favorite company Rockstar as an example and their newest game Bully. After they finished designing Bully, it was full of errors and glitches. The severity of bugs and glitches vary from minor to severe. A minor glitch would be something like walking through a wall you shouldn't be able too, or not being able to pick up a certain trash can. A major glitch could be a cut scene that won't activate, or, worst of all, a glitch that causes the game to crash.
Now, when you consider all the variables in Bully (all the characters, free movement, AI patterns etc) the compounded variations of possible gaming situations becomes exponentially huge, and as such it takes an enormous amount of time for many game scenarios to be played out (by a game tester) to make sure everything runs O.K. There is no way on earth, the programmers would ever have the time to play the games like a game tester would to find the glitches they need to find.
But is it cost effective to pay someone $25-$120 an hour to play their game? YES! Think about it, if it cost the company $30,000 in game testing fee's and that helps them prevent a 1 million unit recall, the cost is well worth it. Gaming companies can, and have, lost millions and millions of dollars on games that were too buggy, or had critical glitches at the time of production that had to be recalled after. Game testers are the vital safeguard against these costly recalls.
The next question on your mind (hopefully) is: what are game testing jobs and how do you find them? A game testing job is when you sign up with a game development company to test their unreleased games (yes, you get access to games that have not hit the market yet). You are then assigned a testing assignment for which you can get paid based on either your time or the completion of the report you submit.

You may be wondering what type of questions you may be required to answer as a game tester. Here is a few examples: -What do you think of the game menu? -What characters do you like/dislike? Why? -Where there any noticeable graphical glitches? -What age group do you feel this game appeals to? -Overall, what would you rank this game? -Is the game to complex or complicated?
Not too hard. But again, it's all about knowing where to look, and how to apply. Don't go into this is you are going to just wish and pray. You will need to spend some time applying to gaming sites, but the rewards are worth it.
In fact, let's talk about what the life of a gamer can be like. Picture this: you wake up in your room at about 1:24pm. You roll out of bed and take a light jog to the mail box where you find your new, unreleased, copy of Bully 2 sent by Rockstar games. At 1.26pm you are back at your "office" and you start playing Bully 2 for the next 4 hours. With the work day almost done, you fill out your report for 15 minutes, submit it online, and you net $300 for your "troubles". Not bad.

I can tell you how to become a game tester and get paid for it. Move to Seattle and get a job at Nintendo, or go to an agency like VMC and get a job testing with Microsoft. You won't make $25 to $150 per hour, though. More like $8-$10 an hour, if you're lucky enough to actually get a job. Oh, and it more than likely won't be permanent, and you'll probably go for a couple of weeks to a month and get laid off.

THIS IS A SCAM! NO COMPANY OF ANY REPUTE REQUIRES 1) PAYMENT TO 'JOIN' ANYTHING. *YOU* GET PAID, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! 2) ALL GOOD GAMING COMPANIES, LIKE AE, REQUIRE THAT YOU HAVE SOME EDUCATION IN COMPUTER SCIENCES, LIKE GRAPICS OR IN SOME LANGUAGE, SUCH AS C++, ETC.
THIS GUY MUST EITHER OWN THE COMPANY HE IS PUSHING OR IS AN EMPLOYEE.
