Many sports analysts, tennis critics, former and current players consider Federer to be the greatest tennis player of all time.

FEDERER nicknamed “Swiss Maestro” and “Federer Express(FedEx)” has won 15 GRAND SLAM singles titles, more than any other male player. He has won 6 Wimbledon titles, 3 Australian Open titles, 5 US open titles and 1 French Open title. ROGER FEDERER became the greatest player in Grand Slam history as he beat Andy Roddick in five dramatic sets for a sixth Wimbledon and 15th major title. When Roddick’s last shot, a forehand, missed the target, Federer walked to the net all alone in the record books breaking his tie with Pete Sampras. The Swiss won 5-7 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 16-14 to surpass Pete Sampras's 14 Grand Slam wins and regain the title of World No 1 that he lost to Rafael Nadal last year. As Federer made history Sampras was back at Wimbledon for the first time since 2002 to watch from the Royal Box. Five time champion was playing in a seventh straight Wimbledon Final and a record 20^th Grand Slam title match. 

ANDY RODDICK soul searched his way to the most memorable performance at the Wimbledon first stunning Andy Murray in the semi final and then meeting Federer with pumping server into his body with calmness of a master. The match became the longest men's singles final ever played in tennis history in terms of games played. It was a hard work for Roger as Andy Roddick pressured him with his strong serve. Roddick held his serve 37 times in a row before being broken in the last game. The two stretched the match all the way andplayed the longest set in tennis history! Roger was the happy winner, with Andy surrendering a good loser. 

FEDERER won his first Grand Slam title in 2003 beating Mark Philippoussis at the Wimbledon. It was his first title in grass court beating his opponent in straight sets. In 2004, Federer was crowned the world NO 1 on 2 February 2004.He held the position for a record 237 consecutive weeks till 17 August 2008.He secured his first hard court title in 2004,overcoming Marat Safin at the Australian Open. In same year, he won his second Wimbledon title beating Andy Roddick. He finished the year with his first US Open title surpassing Lleyton Hewitt in straight sets. In 2005, he claimed his third straight Wimbledon title beating Andy Roddick. He completed the year with surpassing legendary Andre Agassi and conquered his second US Open title. 

The year 2006 was a great year for Federer as he finished the year by claiming the US Open, Australian Open and the Wimbledon. In 2007, he tightened his NO 1 spot by conquering again the US Open, Australian Open and the Wimbledon. In 2008, he won the US Open for the fifth consecutive time beating Andy Murray. Having only won a single Grand Slam title, he lost his world NO 1 position to Rafael Nadal.

FEDERER’S greatest enemy is the Spaniard RAFAEL NADAL. FEDERER and NADAL have been playing each other since 2004 and their rivalry is a significant part of both men's careers. NADAL is the only opponent who has defeated him in a Grand Slam final.FEDERER won his only French Open title in the absence of NADAL.They are the only men in the history of tennis who have played each other in 7 Grand Slam finals, which include 3 Wimbledon finals which was won twice by FEDERER and once by NADAL, 3 French Open finals which was all won by NADAL and 1 Australian Open final which was won by NADAL. NADAL leads their overall head-to-head series 13-7 in which NADAL leads 9-2 on clay and FEDERER leads 5-4 on grass and hard courts. Federer and Roddick have played each other on many occasions, which the ones of most importance are the four times they met in the grand slam tournament finals.
