ROAD TO VICTORY
ROGER FEDERER became the greatest player in Grand Slam history as he beat Andy Roddick in five dramatic sets for a sixth Wimbledon and 15th major title. When Roddick’s last shot, a forehand, missed the target, Federer walked to the net all alone in the record books breaking his tie with Pete Sampras. The Swiss won 5-7 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 16-14 to surpass Pete Sampras's 14 Grand Slam wins and regain the title of World No 1 that he lost to Rafael Nadal last year. As Federer made history Sampras was back at Wimbledon for the first time since 2002 to watch from the Royal Box. Five time champion was playing in a seventh straight Wimbledon Final and a record 20th Grand Slam title match.
ANDY RODDICK soul searched his way to the most memorable performance at the Wimbledon first stunning Andy Murray in the semi final and then meeting Federer with pumping server into his body with calmness of a master. Twice losing finalist at the Wimbledon to Federer and possessing an unenviable 2-18 record against the Swiss the American created a force field of huge server that appeared to be impossible to crack.
Federer had to play solid against an in-form Roddick, who had four points for a two-set lead and then battled back to force fifth set. This was their 21st meeting in which 18 of them were won by Federer. He could not break any of the games in any set as Roddick was too strong with his ability to produce aces.Federer could took the three sets by winning only in the tie breakers.
The match became the longest men's singles final ever played in tennis history in terms of games played. It was a hard work for Roger as Andy Roddick pressured him with his strong serve. Roddick held his serve 37 times in a row before being broken in the last game. The two stretched the match all the way andplayed the longest set in tennis history! Roger was the happy winner, with Andy surrendering a good loser.

TECHNIQUE AND STRENGTH
Federer’s game is based on the golden principles of movement and mechanics, congruence and coordination, symmetry and balance: a deceptively deadly serve, confounding variations and changes of pace, perplexing spin, the roll of the wrist, the following one handed backhand punch, the glorious arc merging backswing to contact, an effortless harmony of thought and action all leading to the famous “come on”.
Federer currently plays with a customized Wilson (K) Factor (K) Six-One Tour 90 tennis racquet, which is characterized by its smaller hitting surface of 90 square inches, heavy weight, and thin beam (18 mm). His grip size is 4 3/8" Federer strings his racquets at 24 to 28 kg) tension with natural gut main strings and polyester cross strings.
Federer's exceptional speed, fluidity and brute force of his forehand motion is considered as "a great liquid whip". He has an excellent slice that can also fire top-spin winning shots. He also possesses a 'flick' backhand where he can generate pace with his wrist, which is usually used to force the opponent at the net. Federer plays with an excellent single-handed backhand which gives him the freedom to produce variety of shots. His forehand shot is considered as the greatest shot in the game of tennis. His serve is difficult to read because he tosses the ball in the same spot no matter where he intends to serve it and he turns his back to his opponents during his motion. He is often able to produce big serves on key points during a match. His first serve is typically around 200 km/h more than that he is capable of serving at 220 km/h.The King of Grass -- Roger Federer vs Roddick
