An Irish singer, songwriter and music producer Roisin Murphy was born on July 5, 1973, in Dublin. From her early years she had an independent and somewhat unconventional character. She had no aspirations of singing until she met mixer/producer Mark Brydon at a party in 1994, with whom she formed the eclectic electronic pop duo Moloko. Her partner in the band was then also her boyfriend.

The band's full-length debut - Do You Like My Tight Sweater? - came out in 1995 and was a mix of dance, electrofunk, and club beats with a sense of humor and sass. The duo produced four albums and several hits, including Sing It Back, The Time Is Now, and Fun for Me, until in 2003 they ended their romantic and professional relationship.

In 2005 Murphy released her debut solo album Ruby Blue. Her second solo album Overpowered was released in 2007 and received a nomination for the Choice Music Prize in the Republic of Ireland - the award given each year to an Irish artist who has proved to produce a critically acclaimed album.

She is currently working on her third studio solo album.

Roisin Murphy debuted in 1995 as lead singer of the electronic music duo Moloko (Moloko broke up in 2003). Her solo discography consists of two studio albums.
