Rolex gold watches
88While some of Rolex watches are in stainless steel (sturdy sports models in the Oyster Professional line) the majority are made of 18-carat yellow, white or pink gold, or the combination of gold with steel called "Rolesor." There is also a model that combines all three golds, called, appropriately enough "Triodor."
Rolex gold: a warmer touch
Those who have been reading my Hubs religiously know that I am partial to steel, white gold, or platinum because I just happen to like that "steely" cool look.
I know, however, that yellow and pink gold have many fans. Although, as I said, my preferences run the other way, I do concede that yellow and pink gold emit a warm glow that all-white metals do not.Rolex gold watch models run the gamut
Let's look at Day-Date (President in the U.S.) collection first, because, aside from the Air-King, those are my favourite models in Rolex's Oyster Perpetual line. This collection encompasses yellow, pink and white gold, as well as one platinum model. I do quite like these watches, especially the ones with either the polished or domed bezels. They are elegant without being too glitzy, and look distinguished enough to befit any president's wrist. In my home country, as you may have heard, we haven't got a president, though I reckon members of the royal family and the parliament would likely not object to such a superbly-crafted timepiece (though the Royals might prefer Tudor watches, noblesse oblige.)
The dressier Datejust, Lady Datejust and Lady Datejust Perpetual watches, have many models in all three shades of gold, and a fair number in Rolesor. It is probably a line with the widest selection of watches for all tastes, from a relatively simple to downright ostentatious.
Except for the Cellinium models that are made from platinum, all the other watches in the classically elegant Cellini line are in yellow, white, or pink gold.
With the exception of aforementioned all-steel sports models, and a sprinkling of platinum watches, the majority of Rolex's timepieces are crafted out of gold, or at least a combination of gold and stainless steel. That only goes to prove (though we are not reinventing the wheel here) that a Rolex watch is always of highest quality.
