Finally, justice can be served!

On September 26, 2009, Roman Polanski was arrested in Switzerland; he was traveling to the Zurich Film Festival when he was secured by police officials. This man has been running for over 30 years from law officials for a charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a thirteen year old girl. For those of you that have not heard about this story yet, let me back up and go over some details for you.

In 1977, Roman Polanski invited a 13 year old girl for a so-called photo shoot for the magazine French Vogue at the residence of Jack Nicholson. The teenager accepted his invitation and was eager to take pictures for this popular magazine.

Roman Polanski provided the teenager with Champagne that was laced with Quaaludes and proceeded to give her directions to pose topless so that he could take a few pictures.

After he shot two photos of her topless, he then ordered her to take off her underwear and enter the Jacuzzi tub; this is where he photographed her naked. The 43 year old director then proceeded to enter the Jacuzzi and was not wearing any clothing. According to the testimony of Samantha Gailey, the director then wrapped his arms around her waist.

Samantha then testified in court that she left the Jacuzzi and entered a bedroom in Jack Nicholson’s home, where Polanski sat down beside her and started to kiss her. Despite her demands that he “keep away and knock it off. According to Samantha Gailey’s testimony, Polanski then performed a sex act on her and then had sexual intercourse with her.

The terror for this young woman does not stop there. In addition to raping this child, Polanski also asked her direct questions such as if she was on any type of birth control and when was the last date of her period. The director then took it a step further by asking Samantha is she wanted him to go in through her back.

This was right before he flipped her over and sodomized her. Samantha claims to have been scared of this 43 year old man and thought that it would be better for her not to fight him.

Polanski was arrested on various sex charges and agreed to a plea deal that spared him prison time. He had spent approximately 45 days in the county jail during a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation. But, when it seemed like a Superior Court judge may not honor the deal—and sentence Polanski to prison—the director fled to country to Europe.

This monster fled the country in order to avoid being severely punished for raping a child. The court system of the United States does not take much fancy to predators such as him that endanger the well-being and health of children. For over 30 years, he has lived a glamorous lifestyle, traveling through Europe at his leisure and continuing to direct movies such as the “Pianist.”

There is much controversy right now about whether or not this man should be extradited to the U.S. to face his punishment. I strongly feel that no one is above the law and just because he was able to escape his punishment for 30 years doesn’t mean that it should have any less severity. Being famous does not make him above the law! It is his time to “face the music.”
