Romantic Valentine Presents for Him - Golf Lovers

Sport has a reputation for breaking relationships, and is rarely associated with anything romantic. Yet, for example, golf fanatics are sometimes referred to as golf lovers, and to be any sort of lover you have to have a heart. While that may be a tenuous connection, golfers are real people with real feelings. If your boyfriend or husband is a golfing fan, buying him a present related to his favourite sport is a good way to show your love and appreciation. So, as Valentine's Day comes around, and you are looking for a romantic Valentine present for him, why not choose golf as your theme?

It may well be that your loving man is concerned about spending so many hours on the golf course away from you. What, with travelling to the club, waiting to tee off, spending 4 hours or so playing and a bit more at the 19th tee, he can be away for great part of the day. By associating golf with a Valentine's Day gift, he will surely be reassured, and understand that you have really given from the heart.

What sort of present can you buy for a golfer? After all, you may never have been near a golf course, although no doubt you have seen his golf gear, books and apparel many a time. On the other hand, you may even be a golfer yourself, so choosing would be easy for you. Either way, here are some ideas to help you decide, remembering the romance is in the giving not the product itself:

New Golfing Outfit

With spring following on soon after Valentine's Day, it can be a good time to refresh his outdoor golfing wardrobe. A new light weight jacket to fend off light rain, or a new golf sweater in a colour that shows him at his best, are sure to make him proud as punch as he struts his stuff on the golf course. That extra self-confidence may even help bring his handicap down. If his golf shoes are looking a bit dated and worn, a well chosen new pair in the latest designs may put any extra spring in his step.

Golf Magazine Subscription

When your man is not playing golf, he may well enjoy reading about it. One golf gift idea is to subscribe to a golf magazine, or if he is a general sports fan, then a sports magazine. There are many golf magazines to choose from, such as Golf International, Golf Illustrated and Golf. You can easily find these and others at Amazon.

New Golf Bag

For a keen and regular golfer, the golf bag is an essential part of their golfing equipment. If your husband's or boyfriend's bag is looking tatty, or he is always complaining about it not being easy to organize, then treating him to a new one is a lovely way to show your generosity and love on Valentine Day.

His Dream Clubs (or club!)

Perhaps the ultimate gift for a golf lover is a new set of clubs. Not just any clubs, but the ones he has always dreamed of and has told you so. Love and romance are about sacrifice, and a new set of good quality clubs will mean a big sacrifice for your bank balance. He might not even need a full set, though. Maybe his game is being ruined by an old driver, sand wedge, or 9 iron. That's fine, you can buy him what he needs, and then wait and see if he later complains about your new club ruining his game!

(If you are a golf novice, please see the article link below, on choosing golf clubs.)

Golf Gift Basket

Some of the many gift basket and hamper web sites also have specialty presents for golfers; especially gourmet golfers. You can have fun checking those out online, or to be truly personal, make up and decorate one of your own. Instead of a hamper, you could fill a new golf cap, or even a golf bag, with a selection of golf related gifts and his favourite foods and wine.

Advance Green Fees or Club Membership Fees

Paying his green fees in advance for your chosen period, or even his club membership, can be another big financial sacrifice for you. On the other hand, it does show your approval of his hobby, and endorse his future participation and regular play. That is something he will surely appreciate for a long time to come.

Putting Machines

We have all seen those putting machines, either in use or in movies. You know the scene, a bored executive passing time in his office, putting a golf ball into a golf cup that then springs the ball back to him? When he misses, you half hope that someone will walk in, tread on the ball and go flying? Yes, one of those. They can be fun for him, and the family.

There are many ways you can make your golfing man happy on February 14, and golf presents for him are just one way. I hope these few ideas will help stimulate your choice.

Valentine Presents for Sports Fans

Golf is not the only sport that occupies the time and thoughts of men. Many men enjoy different sports, or have a favourite sport other than golf. Luckily, finding Valentine presents for general sports fans is even easier than for golf fans. Indeed, there are a whole range of products that provide good ideas for men's presents for Valentine's Day, and other occasions such as birthdays and Christmas; including golfers.

You have an almost endless range of sports related item that would make good presents for your Valentine's Day. While the earlier types of gifts mentioned were for golfers, you can find equivalents for most other sports too. Also, there are some general sports products and services that you can easily choose from. Here are some examples:

1. Sports Memorabilia

If the love of your life is a collector, or you think he might enjoy having a few sporting reminders around the home, then sports memorabilia opens up a mine of possibilities. You may not know much about his sport, but a quick internet search for "memorabilia" with his favourite sport in front, will soon send you in the right direction for ideas. (eg search for "football memorabilia".)

2. TV Sports Channel Subscriptions

Subscriptions to sports channels can be pricey. When I was still living in England, I know I was very reluctant to spend on extra channels, and missed out of lots of sport, especially football. So to show you really don't mind him watching his favourite sports, then it would be a good expression of your love and understanding if you paid for a year's subscription to a suitable channel, or channels.

3. Tickets For a Big Sporting Event

Is there a big match coming up for his favourite team, say an away game for his football team? One that he did not think he could afford? Why not set it up for him, and make it a day out for soon after Valentine's Day. Or maybe you could pay for his next season ticket to see his team's home fixtures. There are lots of opportunities here. Many football clubs have end of season dinner sand dances, and that might make a change for him as he sees the season's awards being made.

4. Sports Clothing

Every sport has its own clothing needs, whether to participate in the sport or just to watch. Many sports fans also like to show their allegiance to their favourite team, so try and sneak into the team shop one day and see what you can find. Most will have gear in the team colours.

5. Souvenirs

That same shop may give you lots of other ideas in the souvenir line. Whether replica trophies, mugs, videos of historic matches, engraved jewellery, chinawear and just about everything you can think of. At least, the larger clubs may offer a large range. Or you can always buy a suitable souvenir and with a sporting theme, and then have it engraved with your Valentine's message of love.
