Round Headed Man

Could this be just another marketing ploy, aka the 13 year old boy who stole a credit card to pay for prostitutes, which made world news including national newspapers and TV news? Or is it for real? The new story is about the Round Headed Man.

The 13 year old credit card story was just a piece of marketing which had sent many people scurrying to make sure they included it on their websites along with all the major TV stations and newspapers as renowned as The Telegraph in the UK.

So who is the Round headed Man? Well from the Drabdesign blog it appears to be a joke between the owner of the blog David Edbrooke-Stainer and someone called Dave Laight, who according to rumour has a very round head.

That said, the story is on Cruise Critic as well as some Social network sites, but what has this got to do with cruising?

Drabdesign do a few cruising websites such as Cruises and CruiseVIP for their clients and it is alleged that both David Edbrooke-Stainer and Dave Laight worked for a cruise travel agent in the past, where they became friends and shared a lot of banter. According to the Drabdesign Blog, Dave Laight often travels to the Southampton docks at 4 in the morning to see the cruise ships arrive. This is when taking a break from his work duties. The post started as a joke, with David Edbrooke-Stainer suggesting that Dave Laight would become a tourist attraction and he would make him famous on his blog.

Many still feel it is a marketing ploy and not just a joke that has expanded. My question is, what do you think?
