Rude Awakening!

By Zsuzsy Bee

A poem...

Sensuous arms of sleep still encompassing body and soul.

Mind in cozy oblivion.

Coax the alarm clock into some extra snooze time.

Eyelids heavier than lead.

Joints and muscles revolting against this rude awakening.

Timer operated coffeemaker.

Caffeine vapour sensor alarm system activated.

Body springs to life.

Tick tock, tick tock, the time bomb

Of life is about to explode - BOOM!

"Wake up, dear," it says...

Thanks everyone for taking a look! Poetry is not my strong form, but this one just kind of jumped out at me, over the holidays.

Thanks, writing stories has been something I've always wanted to do. So I really haven't spent much time on poetry. I'll keep trying I guess.

This completely tickles me.

I taught early morning Seminary to High School students for a couple of years. Seminary is religious instruction for our young people. It started at 6:10 am, Monday through Friday, throughout the school year.

I developed an interesting relationship with morning myself. Ugh!

Thanks for taking a look.I'm usually an early riser (5:30 every morning) I was staying at my daughters for almost three weeks for the holiday season. We have a bad habit of staying up chitting and chatting till 2-3 in the morning. Not a big deal except that my granddaughters are also early risers (6:00 AM). By the end of my holiday I was getting a little ragged around the ears. But I enjoyed every tiny second of my stay and didn't want to waste it sleeping. So coffee has become my elixer of life. regards Zsuzsy

That's a good parallel, Zsuzsy, if I got it right. I'm activated by the smell of tea in the morning, or coffee, depending upon my coffeemaker, my wife.

I get up when I wake do 30 mins of exercise, shave and shower and go to work at my desk.

Val and I go for an hours walk some where between 11.00 AM and 3.00 pm for one hour. Sooner or later, when Val cooks the dinner, I do the dishes, more work and go to bed about 11.00 PM

Kenny! Thanks for stopping by. I too enjoy tea but I have to have that first cup or two or three first thing in the morning. I had to result to a timered automatic coffee-maker as my regular coffeemaker (my daughter) has gone away to college. (We never know how good we have it till its gone.....)

Mr.M. You sure have a well organized life. I'm an insomniac so its only 4 or 5 hours of sleep for me. (which is quite great as I don't want to waste my life sleeping, too much to do and read)

Excellent Poem, I used to feel the same and used to have coffee makers start automatically :) Initially I had too many problems waking up, usually takes an hour to be in equilibirium, but my brother suggested this simple exercise, which I do every day keeps me awake and sharp, without having to take coffee.

Cgull! sorry to say this but the coffee is more of an incentive to me than the exercises. I need to be fortfied with my coffee before I attempt any.
