Run Your Car On Water

Run your car on water. Look at it one way and it sounds like a James Bond movie, where his beloved Aston Martin sheds its wheels for pontoons and goes racing around the canals of Venice. Look at it another way, and it sounds like a futuristic society, where you drive up to the pump and instead of gas, you fill your tank with water gas.

Sounds like science fiction, doesn't it?

Well, looking at it from James Bond's perspective, perhaps it is. But from the second viewpoint above, it is not quite so futuristic as it sounds. Sure, technology is not quite ready for water gas at the pump yet, but the technology does exist now to allow you to combine water with gas to form a more efficient and environmentally-friendly fuel source.

Now, with this water gas, I am not talking about going out and getting a brand new hybrid car from your local auto dealership. Those hybrid cars use 600-pound batteries filled with nickel-metal hydride. Very bad impact on the environment, if you ask me.

No, water gas technology is a simple conversion kit you can get for your existing car. That's right, not only is the technology here now, but you don't have to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a new car. For under $200, you can join the water gas revolution and save money on gas prices at the pump.

So, how does water as fuel work? Does this mean that you no longer need gas for your car? Wouldn't that be nice. Just go to your kitchen tap and fill 'er up. Not quite as nice as that...at least not yet. But the way it works is by combining water with gas in your engine, using a conversion kit.

What this kit does, is takes the hydrogen out of the water. Hydrogen is the "H" in "H20". This hydrogen is then burned in the engine, and what is left is...water. Hence the term "water gas." The gas is still used, but by adding water to the mixture, the gas lasts longer, thereby saving you money by not having to pump gas as much or as often, and your fuel efficiency increases as an added benefit.

For those of you concerned with the impact of this technology on the environment, think what is better for the atmosphere: carbon dioxide or oxygen? Of course oxygen! That is the result of the burn of the hydrogen mix. While converting hydrogen back to water, because it burns by mixing with oxygen in the engine, it also increases the oxygen emissions coming out of your tailpipe.

So, while you can't exactly stop at your local gas station and fill up on good old H20, you can look into getting an expensive conversion kit, or better yet, find a good do-it-yourself manual and get your hands dirty. It'll save you tons of money for the kit, but better still is the savings at the pump you'd get by using water gas instead of just gas.
