Run your car with water?
55Can a car run on water?
This is not something I would normally want to talk about but I came across it and it caught my eye. Below is a video on water fuel. Perhaps because I heard that the cost of Gas is now up to 3.50 in parts of California it struck my interest. I myself make travel decisions now based on the cost of gas. I live about 30 Min's away from the next big city and find myself putting off a drive because of the gas prices. I have been able to keep my gas spending to about 20.00 a week, which means I drive very little each day.
There are many perks to living in a small town however it's gonna cost you to commute to work, malls, gyms and many other resources you may not find in a small town. Before the gas prices jumped up my decisions were never based on the cost to drive to my destination. The cost of Gas has not only affected the mear cost of running your vehicle, but the cost of most products purchased. Trucking companies are not going to swallow the cost of these gas prices so the consumer gets to pick up the tab. I was paying about 5.95 for milk in Cal in 2006 today in my small town in TX we pay close to $5.00 for just one gallon. We have cows everywhere in TX, problem is the Milk comes from the happy cows in California.
So I wounder is the problem going to be fixed with a new fuel source such as water? Will people in power come to there scenses and regulate the gas prices as they do the utility and phone companies? Probably not. Why would people who profit want to make changes? Unfortunately because we still do purchase gas, why would they want to lower it? If you were in business and you could get more for a product would you lower the price? I feel that as long as we pay what is asked no changes will take place any time soon.
Look at the real estate market around 2004-06 the houses in Cal jumped up significantly. Even though a house may have been purchased for $150g few years prior,it could have sold for up to and over $500g. The house was still the same house in the same area. Didn't even have to have any changes made, Yet it jumped up to a crazy amount. I feel this happened because people (buyers) put the control into the sellers hands. They were willing to pay such amounts because the interest rates were low. In my opinion it was not the smartest time to buy, yet the smartest time to sell. I did not understand why so many people wanted to buy at such outrageous prices. We are talking about houses that were maybe 1200-1400 sf and not in the best areas. A house in Compton when I moved from Cal was going for around $300g. My point is this, if we are willing to pay more then something is worth the prices will rise or stay at the same rate. When people stopped buying houses the market started to drop and now we see foreclosures due bad loan decisions. Many took advantage of 0% interest loans, in my opinion the banks took advantage of the buyers. Now it's becoming a buyers market and buyers are dragging there feet awaiting prices to come down even more. People who bought just a few years ago have lost equity in there homes and owe more then they are worth today. We do have power when we all do our part. Customers are what drive every business. We have the power to make or break a company. I know that I am talking about a huge issue and it's probably a joke to some. But even if so we do have more power then anyone realizes. Try to car pool, take a bus, work from home even if just for 1day a week, walk or ride a bike to short destinations. I would love to see people unite and boycott a gas station. I am not saying boycott all stations but perhaps one that charges the most. If they had a good week of not one customer can you imagine how that would affect them? They would have to rethink what thy are doing and drop prices. But we don't do anything but complain as I am about the cost. So we will continue to pay way more then what gas is worth.
I got a bit passionate about this topic and really only wanted to share some links. I am just an average American housewife who feels very strongly about the gas prices. My husband builds and restores classic cars which usually have a gas guzzling engine. We have had to rethink attending car shows miles away, because of the cost to drive to them. It's sad that gas prices can affect someones life. People have so much more to worry about yet the cost of gas ends up being a very common topic.
I am optimistic that something will eventually change for the better. Our economy can not prosper if the cost of gas keeps going up. It will force vendors to continue to raise prices and consumers will have to be a bit more conservative with spending. These are only my opinions on this topic.

You can always go electric. Peole think hybrid cars are slow. When Honda Accord had their Hybrid it actually outperfomed the V6 model and was more fuel efficient.
Tesla Motors has a 100% electric vehicle and it goes 0-60 in 3.9 sec
I'm a mechanical engineer. I'm not going to say it's not going to work but, wait. yeah. it's not going to work.
I also work for the oil/gas services and there are better ways to product power and hydro isn't one of them due to space and everything else needed in it.
But, it's your opinion and you seem passionate about it ;)
