According to jagex's game guide on their official website "Each account should only be used by ONE person. Account sharing is NOT allowed. You may not sell, transfer or lend your account to anyone else, or permit anyone else to use your account, and you may not accept an account that anybody else offers you.". This would lead a normal person to think that buying/selling runescape accounts is against jagex rules.

Right bellow on the game guide where jagex made that statement about banning account trading they tried to give excuses for why they don't allow it.

• Most traded accounts are stolen, so by buying a stolen account you help them do a crime :S
• Then they said some typical jagex bulloni about why you shouldn't trust other runescape players

Jagex then goes to end of on a happy note by letting you know you also cant swap or share accounts with your friends family and loved ones.

Before jagex began extermenating the people who traded runescape accounts ebay was a utopia of runescape account trading. There was ample scelection of runescape gold and accounts for sale for the leagons of people who did not have the time or patience levels to earn them. It was a fair deal offcourse, the dealers were trying to sell a product they could produce efficiently (gp and accounts) and the buyers were paying exactly how much they think the product was worth. That's how capitalism works, that's how America, heck the how the free world was founded and sustains it's self.

Jagex LSD *LTD has banned the selling of runescape accounts under their servers because technically no player owns their accounts.
