Runescape – A World of Fantasy and Adventure Beckons You
Runescape is the name of a wildly popular massively multiplayer online role playing game, or MMORPG for short. Players from around the globe join in the fun and excitement of living, fighting and helping to establish a realm which is truly one of a kind. If you have never had the pleasure of opening and playing a Runescape account, let me fill you in on just a little bit of what you have been missing.
One of the first things you should know about Runescape is that there are two separate types of accounts from which to choose. There is a free non member account which comes playable with no monthly fee, but you will be playing at a disadvantage in the game, as the free accounts have limitations on them such as places you can explore and the skills you can level up. The non member account is perfect for those who would like to experience the world of Runescape before committing themselves to a monthly fee for a full member account.
The full member Runescape account has no limitations imposed on it like the non member accounts. Players who choose to upgrade their account to paid status can enjoy the experience of leveling their characters in any of the many trade skills available, as well as having full access to explore the ever expanding world of Runescape. This allows the player to engage in combat with a larger number of creatures to earn experience and gain loot.
Like any other MMORPG worth its salt, there are loads of quests just waiting to whisk the player off into adventure after adventure. What's more, because of the size of this incredibly huge world, there are lots of other things to see and do while taking part in the quests. This allows you can take part in side events, as well as give you the opportunity to stop and get to know other players along the way.
While playing Runescape you will have the opportunities like joining guilds to assist you in gaining levels and skill experience, fighting your way through The Wilderness, which is an area that allows for player versus player combat, and random events which can occur at any time. These random events can be small side quests or other events, and can result in different experiences dependant on how you perform in them.
If you like role-playing games, and have yet to try Runescape, then it is time for you to get acquainted with this incredibly fun and highly addictive MMORPG. Since Runescape offers the free trial account option, and does not ask you for any financial information for a trial account, there is no reason why you can't be joining in on all the fun this lavish fantasy world has to offer.

Runescape Player Killing Overview
One of the more challenging aspects of any game is playing against a human opponent in real time. This type of interactive play allows for a much richer game play experience, as there is currently no computer program which can match the many quirks of the human brain. The programmed routines of a computer program can be anticipated after you play against them for awhile, as they have no way of changing their tactics on the fly. This can lead to repetitive game play and boredom on part of the players, which is not a good thing for the game developers.
Almost all games being released or created solely for online play now have the option for multiplayer action. With an MMORPG like Runescape, you get the best of both worlds. Runescape features plenty of computer controlled foes, and if you fancy, you can head off to the Wilderness and have your combat skills checked against another human player, or group of players. When games allow for the players to kill one another during game play, it is known as player killing, or PK'ing for short. Not all online games allow for player killing, but the best ones do.
In Runescape, player killing is a skill which you learn by defending your life at the risk of losing some of your possessions to the victor, should you be vanquished. As a matter of fact, some players actually make player killing their profession of choice, since it can be a profitable activity. If this sounds like something you would be interested in being a part of, there are a few things you should know before you decide to challenge the citizens of Runescape while in the Wild.
Before you decide to run off and take on the entire virtual world, you will want to make sure that your character is actually ready for it. One way to prepare yourself for PKing is to decide what type of PK player you want to be. Usually, you will find that there are three different types of PK players.
First, there's the Pure warrior who puts all his time on building up the main combat attributes, which makes him a deadly killing machine. Then there is the Prayer Beast, who uses prayers to buff himself up, paralyze his foes and protect specific items from being lost should he meet his demise. Of course what fantasy world would be complete if they didn't have Mages? The Mage uses powerful magic derived from honing magical skills and the manipulation of runes.
By knowing what type of character you intend to take out to the Wilderness beforehand, you can spend your time wisely building the skills necessary to make your character a successful PK'er right off the bat. There is nothing more frustrating to a role playing gamer than knowing they started off wrong with their character. Take your time, ask other gamers about how they set up their PK characters, and you will be virtually guaranteed to enjoy a successful PK adventure in the Wilderness!
Three Stupidly Simple Ways to Get More Gold in Runescape
If you have spent any time at all on role playing games, you know that even in a virtual world, there is no substitute for cold, hard cash! Yes, it's true! Even in a virtual world such as Runescape, you will need to collect some sort of monetary funds if you plan on having a fulfilling and all around successful digital life. So, with this in mind, how does one go about getting their money sacks full if they are new to the game?
Any player that you ask may have his or her own favorite way to make gold on Runescape, and chances are that if they find a new way to get their coffers filled quickly, they won't be in a big hurry to spill the beans on how they do it. I have found the members on Runescape to be some of the friendliest and most helpful gamers online, but it goes without saying that we all need to have our own little secrets!
Since I'm in a good mood, and love the Runescape community so much, I'm going to give you some of my favorite ways to make huge amounts of gold, even if you're new to the game. I for one know that starting out on any new game with empty pockets is never fun, so with that in mind, here are a few tricks that you will hopefully find helpful in accumulating wealth in your new found home on Runescape.
If you are a newbie, one of the best ways to get a foothold in the game while making some gold on the side is to head over to Lummbrige and kill the rats you will find there. The rats will not be too hard for you to kill, plus they will allow you to level yourself rather quickly to level fifteen, at which point you should head for the Faladoor sewers to take on a few sewer zombies, which will drop 30 gp each.
Another really easy way to garner some quick gold is to work on your Mining skills until you reach level 30 in Mining. You should then procure a decent pick axe and complete the Rune Mysteries Quest. You'll need to mine 1000 rune essence, and then work on your Runecrafting. Once you have your Runecrafting high enough, use the rune essence to make Fire Runes, which you can in turn sell for a very decent profit. Fire Runes are used for the very powerful Firebolt spell, and are in high demand, therefore they sell well.
Building on the Fire Rune strategy, you can also work on your Magic skills until they are high enough for the Firebolt spell, and then use the spell against other players in the Wilderness. You can then sell the loot you collect from defeating them in combat.
Learning all of the many ways that you can easily fill your gold coffers in Runescape is one of the many pleasurable experiences you can enjoy while playing Runescape. After a while, you will develop your own strategies and find a combination which will best serve you.
