A Running Sport?

By definition, running is not exactly consider a sport.

Sport - Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively (taken from www.thefreedictionary.com)

Running does not have a set of rules, running does not need to engage a second person and therefore not much of a competition, even in a running event, there is no rule that said you cannot walk throughout, and you can run in any manner you want, as long as you reached the finish line before the others, you are the winner.

Obviously, it is not a game either, its not very entertaining I suppose. Then what is running? I would still consider running as a form of personal sport, there are plenty of physical involvment, somewhere inside your heart, you wish to break your own timing and outbeat others, so there is still a bit of competitive spirit.

Overrated Sport

If you follow the Sport News, you will notice news on Formula One, motorgp and golf, till now, I am questioning the "sport" factor mentioned. By sitting in a fast turbo charged machine, would you consider that a sport? If machine can consider to be part of sport, then computer gaming can be a sport as well, and we can call an overweight high scoring gamer is a top sportsman. Golfing is more like precision and execution, the golfer does not even need to carry his own clubs, a buggy and a caddie are at his service, again I do not see any sport factor in this. Yet, why snooker or dart throwing not consider as a sport?

Game Or Sport

Maybe someone should review the sport news content, or renamed it as a "Game and Sport News" section, so not to confuse. But then, who would care? The only concern is the winner and how much they are earning, and how their news can generate the media business. Right now, I just need to focus on how to improve my stamina for the upcoming run.
