INTIMACY WITH GOD - THE KEY OF OBEDIENCE

ENOCH

Gen 5:18-24

(18) When Jared was 162 years old, Enoch was born.

(19) Jared lived after the birth of Enoch 800 years and had other sons and daughters.

(20) So Jared lived 962 years, and he died.

(21) When Enoch was 65 years old, Methuselah was born.

(22) Enoch walked [in habitual fellowship] with God after the birth of Methuselah 300 years and had other sons and daughters.

(23) So all the days of Enoch were 365 years.

(24) And Enoch walked [in habitual fellowship] with God; and he was not, for God took him [home with Him]. [Hebrews 11:5]

Habitual:

  • Done as a habit
  • Persisting in behaviour
  • Characteristic

Habit:

  • Regularly repeated behaviour PATTERN
  • Attitude

This can also be described as:

  • Custom, routine, practice, pattern, tendency, inclination, leaning, addiction dependency = LIFESTYLE

Fellowship:

  • Sharing of experiences
  • Group of like minded people
  • Companionship
  • Similarity

This can also be described as:

  • Companionship, Camaraderie, Comradeship, Friendliness, Partnership, Association

Heb 11:5

(5) Because of faith Enoch was caught up and transferred to heaven, so that he did not have a glimpse of death; and he was not found, because God had translated him. For even before he was taken to heaven, he received testimony [still on record] that he had pleased and been satisfactory to God. [Genesis 5:21-24]

Enoch's Walk

"When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah. And after he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God 300 years. Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away" Gen. 5:21-24.

Something happened to Enoch when Methuselah was born. Up until that time, Enoch had probably believed in God, but had not walked with God. What happened to change all this?

Methuselah became the oldest man to ever live (969 years) and the year he died God sent the Flood in judgment against a wicked world. It seems that God had revealed to Enoch that his son was the "time-clock" for God's judgment. In fact, Enoch saw beyond even the Flood to the Second Coming of Christ.

"Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men: "See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against him" Jude 14-15.

Jud 1:14-15

(14) It was of these people, moreover, that Enoch in the seventh [generation] from Adam prophesied when he said, Behold, the Lord comes with His myriads of holy ones (ten thousands of His saints)

(15) To execute judgment upon all and to convict all the impious (unholy ones) of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed [in such an] ungodly [way], and of all the severe (abusive, jarring) things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.

This revelation of judgment launched Enoch into a close walk with God. Enoch's fellowship with God was so close that God caught him straight up to heaven to be with Him, without Enoch having to taste of death first (Genesis 5:24).

1Th 4:16-17

(16) For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud cry of summons, with the shout of an archangel, and with the blast of the trumpet of God. And those who have departed this life in Christ will rise first.

(17) Then we, the living ones who remain [on the earth], shall simultaneously be caught up along with [the resurrected dead] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so always (through the eternity of the eternities) we shall be with the Lord!

"By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God" Hebrews 11:5.

In summary it is then clear that Enoch lived a life of habitual fellowship with God and also that His life was pleasing to God. One can not but come to agreement that surely his life was also a life of OBEDIENCE to God.

Noah's Walk

Noah was another man that impressed the heart of God. Like Enoch, he is also being described as a man who "walked with God".

Eze 14:12-20

(12) The word of the Lord came [again] to me, saying,

(13) Son of man, when a land sins against Me by committing a trespass, and I stretch out My hand against it and break its staff of bread and send famine upon it and cut off from it man and beast,

(14) Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, they would save but their own lives by their righteousness (their uprightness and right standing with Me), says the Lord God.

(15) If I cause ferocious and evil wild animals to pass through the land and they ravage and bereave it, and it becomes desolate so that no man may pass through because of the beasts;

(16) Though these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord God, they would deliver neither sons nor daughters; they themselves alone would be delivered but the land would be desolate (laid waste and deserted).

(17) Or if I bring a sword upon that land and say, Sword, go through the land, so that I cut off man and beast from it,

(18) Though these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord God, they would deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they themselves alone would be delivered.

(19) Or if I send a pestilence into that land and pour out My wrath upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast,

(20) Though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live, says the Lord God, they would deliver neither son nor daughter; they would but deliver their own lives by their righteousness (their moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation).

"Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God"

Gen 6:9

(9) This is the history of the generations of Noah. Noah was a just and righteous man, blameless in his [evil] generation; Noah walked [in habitual fellowship] with God.

Gen 7:1

(1) And the Lord said to Noah, Come with all your household into the ark, for I have seen you to be righteous (upright and in right standing) before Me in this generation. [Psalms 27:5; 33:18, 19; 2 Peter 2:9]

In the midst of this corrupt generation, Noah was special, because of his attitude

Gen 6:5-12

(5) The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination and intention of all human thinking was only evil continually.

(6) And the Lord regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved at heart.

(7) So the Lord said, I will destroy, blot out, and wipe away mankind, whom I have created from the face of the ground--not only man, [but] the beasts and the creeping things and the birds of the air--for it grieves Me and makes Me regretful that I have made them.

(8) But Noah found grace (favor) in the eyes of the Lord.

(9) This is the history of the generations of Noah. Noah was a just and righteous man, blameless in his [evil] generation; Noah walked [in habitual fellowship] with God.

(10) And Noah became the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

(11) The earth was depraved and putrid in God's sight, and the land was filled with violence (desecration, infringement, outrage, assault, and lust for power).

(12) And God looked upon the world and saw how degenerate, debased, and vicious it was, for all humanity had corrupted their way upon the earth and lost their true direction.

Gen 6:22

(22) Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him. = OBEDIENCE

He was blameless in his generation.

Noah saw things unseen

Heb 11:7

(7) [Prompted] by faith Noah, being forewarned by God concerning events of which as yet there was no visible sign, took heed and diligently and reverently constructed and prepared an ark for the deliverance of his own family. By this [his faith which relied on God] he passed judgment and sentence on the world's unbelief and became an heir and possessor of righteousness (that relation of being right into which God puts the person who has faith). [Genesis 6:13-22]

What is awesome in this scripture is the realization that through the obedience of Noah to God he brought judgement and sentence on the world......

The Bible talks about two "worlds" - the seen world and the unseen world

2Co 4:18

(18) Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting.

Heb 11:1

(1) Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

Noah's eyes were fixed on the unseen world and this affected his walk on the earth.

Noah condemned his generation

Noah was a "preacher of righteousness"

2Pe 2:5

(5) And He spared not the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven other persons, when He brought a flood upon the world of ungodly [people]. [Genesis 6-8; I Peter 3:20]

It wasn't the words of NOAH that condemned the world, but his life. Through his life, Noah proved that it was possible not to walk a way of violence and depravity, and as a result leaving his generation with no excuse for their condition

Rom 1:18-20

(18) For God's [holy] wrath and indignation are revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who in their wickedness repress and hinder the truth and make it inoperative.

(19) For that which is known about God is evident to them and made plain in their inner consciousness, because God [Himself] has shown it to them.

CHALLENGE

TO WHAT EXTENT IS YOUR AND MY LIFE BRINGING JUDGMENT TO THOSE WHOSE LIFES WE TOUCH?

(20) For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification], [Psalms 19: 1-4]

Saved from a corrupt generation

Mat 24:37-39

(37) As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

(38) For just as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, [men] marrying and [women] being given in marriage, until the [very] day when Noah went into the ark,

(39) And they did not know or understand until the flood came and swept them all away--so will be the coming of the Son of Man. [Genesis 6:5-8; 7:6-24]

Jesus said that the generation alive at the time of His return would be just like that of Noah's generation. Noah's generation was judged because of its violence and corruption, not because they were "eating and drinking.". Their daily lives numbed them to the reality of their evil condition. Our generation is no different.

Act 2:40

(40) And [Peter] solemnly and earnestly witnessed (testified) and admonished (exhorted) with much more continuous speaking and warned (reproved, advised, encouraged) them, saying, Be saved from this crooked (perverse, wicked, unjust) generation.

Our salvation does not just mean we are rescued from an eternity in hell (the future). Our salvation extends into the here and now. REMEMBER WHAT WE have TAUGHT YOU......

SPIRIT = YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED

SOUL = YOU ARE BEING SAVED

BODY = YOU WILL BE SAVED

As an apostolic people your mere presence will bring about conviction and judgment to those in the world is your life is an accurate manifestation of Christ in the earth as was that of Enoch, Noah and others.

Abraham's Walk

Gen 17:1

(1) When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, I am the Almighty God; walk and live habitually before Me and be perfect (blameless, wholehearted, complete).

Like Enoch and Noah, Abraham walked with God

Gen 24:40

(40) And he said to me, The Lord, in Whose presence I walk [habitually], will send His Angel with you and prosper your way, and you will take a wife for my son from my kindred and from my father's house.

But the New Testament describes the walk of Abraham in a way different from Enoch and Noah.

Jam 2:23

(23) And [so] the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed in (adhered to, trusted in, and relied on) God, and this was accounted to him as righteousness (as conformity to God's will in thought and deed), and he was called God's friend. [Genesis 15:6; 2 Chronicles 20:7; Isaiah 41:8]

Abraham's fellowship with the Lord was so great that he was called the "friend" of God.

2Ch 20:7

(7) Did not You, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham Your friend?

This did not just mean that God was Abraham's friend. Even more than that, Abraham was God's friend. God felt He could share the depths of His heart with Abraham, just as two friends might do. God is looking for the same kind of deep friendship with you.

Joh 15:13-15

(13) No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends.

(14) You are My friends if you keep on doing the things which I command you to do.

(15) I do not call you servants (slaves) any longer, for the servant does not know what his master is doing (working out). But I have called you My friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from My Father. [I have revealed to you everything that I have learned from Him]

Like Enoch, Noah and Abraham, each of us has a choice between two walks - between walking with the world or walking with God (James 4:4; 1 John 2:15-16), between the seen world and the unseen world of God's promises

2Co 5:7

(7) For we walk by faith [we regulate our lives and conduct ourselves by our conviction or belief respecting man's relationship to God and divine things, with trust and holy fervor; thus we walk] not by sight or appearance.

The choice we make will determine how we live - our outlook, our values, our lifestyle

Heb 11:32-12:2

(32) And what shall I say further? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets, [Judges 4:1-5, 31; 6:1-8, 35; 11:1-12, 15; 13:1-16, 31; 1 Samuel 1-30; 2 Samuel 1-24; 1 Kings 1-2; Acts 3:24]

(33) Who by [the help of] faith subdued kingdoms, administered justice, obtained promised blessings, closed the mouths of lions, [Daniel 6]

(34) Extinguished the power of raging fire, escaped the devourings of the sword, out of frailty and weakness won strength and became stalwart, even mighty and resistless in battle, routing alien hosts. [Daniel 3]

(35) [Some] women received again their dead by a resurrection. Others were tortured to death with clubs, refusing to accept release [offered on the terms of denying their faith], so that they might be resurrected to a better life. [1 Kings 17:17-24; 2 Kings 4:25-37]

(36) Others had to suffer the trial of mocking and scourging and even chains and imprisonment.

(37) They were stoned to death; they were lured with tempting offers [to renounce their faith]; they were sawn asunder; they were slaughtered by the sword; [while they were alive] they had to go about wrapped in the skins of sheep and goats, utterly destitute, oppressed, cruelly treated--

(38) [Men] of whom the world was not worthy--roaming over the desolate places and the mountains, and [living] in caves and caverns and holes of the earth.

(39) And all of these, though they won divine approval by [means of] their faith, did not receive the fulfillment of what was promised,

(40) Because God had us in mind and had something better and greater in view for us, so that they [these heroes and heroines of faith] should not come to perfection apart from us [before we could join them].

(1) Therefore then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us,

(2) Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God. [Psalms 110:1]

OBEDIENCE TO GOD:

When knowing, loving, and trusting God have become deeply etched in our own character, obedience to God will be the natural outflow of such a committed life.

Jesus put it so simply

Joh 14:15

(15) If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands.

"Christianity is not a system of philosophy, nor a ritual, nor a code of laws; it is the impartation of a divine vitality. Without the way there is no going, without the truth there is no knowing, without life there is no living." - Merrill Tenney

The key to obedience is to embrace "the authority of the Scriptures."

"It's either true or it isn't, and you either believe or you don't." If the Bible is God's Word, then our obedience must follow.

The fruit of intimacy with God is a simple obedience motivated by gratitude for God's grace. From my own experience, I know that obedience as a grateful response to knowing, loving, and trusting God is far superior to obedience as duty.

Intimacy with God

Without intimacy we can do nothing

Joh 15:5

(5) I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.

The first thing we have to do is to come into a place of being totally dependent on God. After all, Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. In order for us to grow in the deep things of God and to become a "manifester" of God's glory we need to be totally connected to the vine "Jesus". We have to be dependent on intimacy with God. It is only in the place of intimacy that we will be positioned to receive the necessary sap to bear fruit. The sap is the anointing and direction of God's voice. The sap is what the Vine produces and releases to the branches so that they can bear fruit.

Joh 15:7-8

(7) If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.

(8) When you bear (produce) much fruit, My Father is honored and glorified, and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of Mine.

It's all about abiding in Jesus and having His words abide in us. The key is to come into a place of intimacy, to where we can hear the voice of God.

G3306

μένω

menō

Thayer Definition:

1) to remain, abide

1a) in reference to place

1a1) to sojourn, tarry

1a2) not to depart

1a2a) to continue to be present

1a2b) to be held, kept, continually

1b) in reference to time

1b1) to continue to be, not to perish, to last, endure

1b1a) of persons, to survive, live

1c) in reference to state or condition

1c1) to remain as one, not to become another or different

2) to wait for, await one

God expects us be in a place of expectancy to hear His voice (and everyone is without excuse).

John 10:27

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me."

God wants us to hear and follow His voice because if we become obedient to what God tells us to do, we will see the manifestation of God's glory.

Obedience will manifest the Kingdom (Dominion) [ELIJAH]

One thing that will mark the double portion generation will be radical obedience. Elijah was a man of radical obedience. We see this in the power encounter that Elijah had when he called down fire from heaven and confronted King Ahab and the 450 false prophets of Baal (1 King. 18:20-40).

Right before Elijah called down the fire from heaven to burn up the sacrifice, He said, "Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word" (v. 36).

We see the key to Elijah confronting all the false prophets and confronting Ahab was hearing God's voice first. The key is being obedient to the voice of the Lord. That is what brought the manifestation of the of God's fire on Mount Carmel.

It was also Elijah's obedience to God's instructions to go and present himself before Ahab (1 Kin. 18:1) that brought the manifestation of rain after three years of drought (vv. 41-46). God told Elijah to present himself to Ahab, and he would send rain on the earth; and God sent the rain! (v. 45).

Jesus flowed in the Spirit the same way. Let's take a look at two verses.

Joh 5:19

(19) So Jesus answered them by saying, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the Son is able to do nothing of Himself (of His own accord); but He is able to do only what He sees the Father doing, for whatever the Father does is what the Son does in the same way [in His turn].

These two verses hold the key to manifesting the glory of God. If we can come into a place of seeing and hearing what God wants to do in the earth, we will come into a place of manifesting God's kingdom every place we go. The double portion generation of Elijah will be a generation who will see and hear what the Lord is doing out of a place of friendship with Him. Then they will release what the Father says to release and it will bring forth a manifestation of God's glory.

One main reason why it is so important to be obedient is because obedience is to walk in true humility before God. The Word teaches us that for those who humble themselves they shall be exalted and those who exalt themselves will be humbled (Lk.14:11).

Lesson One: CHRIST The Essence of life

John 5:21

Just as the Father raises up the dead and gives them life [makes them live on], even so the Son also gives life to whomever He wills and is pleased to give it.

John 5:24-26

(24) I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the person whose ears are open to My words [who listens to My message] and believes and trusts in and clings to and relies on Him Who sent Me has (possesses now) eternal life. And he does not come into judgment [does not incur sentence of judgment, will not come under condemnation], but he has already passed over out of death into life.

MEDITATION

If you do not choose LIFE - you have already chosen DEATH

(25) Believe Me when I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the time is coming and is here now when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear it shall live.

(26) For even as the Father has life in Himself and is self-existent, so He has given to the Son to have life in Himself and be self-existent.

John 5:39-40

(39) You search and investigate and pore over the Scriptures diligently, because you suppose and trust that you have eternal life through them. And these [very Scriptures] testify about Me!

(40) And still you are not willing [but refuse] to come to Me, so that you might have life.

CHALLENGE:

YOU ARE TO BE: THE LIGHT OF MEN

I want you to be truly alive with My kind of life.

John 1:4

In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men.

John 1:11-13

(11) He came to that which belonged to Him [to His own--His domain, creation, things, world], and they who were His own did not receive Him and did not welcome Him.

(12) But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name--[Isa. 56:5.]

(13) Who owe their birth neither to bloods nor to the will of the flesh [that of physical impulse] nor to the will of man [that of a natural father], but to God. [They are born of God!]

I have given you life. I was there when you breathed your first breath.

Psalm 139:13-16

(13) For You did form my inward parts; You did knit me together in my mother's womb.

(14) I will confess and praise You for You are fearful and wonderful and for the awful wonder of my birth! Wonderful are Your works, and that my inner self knows right well.

(15) My frame was not hidden from You when I was being formed in secret [and] intricately and curiously wrought [as if embroidered with various colors] in the depths of the earth [a region of darkness and mystery].

(16) Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days [of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them.

This is why it grieves God when you do not live life to its fullest potential. When your senses are dulled, or you are encumbered by cares and worries so that you cannot live as God intended, the heart of God is saddened.

"I want you to understand that Christ is the Life-giver." His desire is to release His life force in you.

Adam and Eve were equally endued with life. After Adam's disobedience, sin eventually took its toll. The life force gradually dissipated, and the life span decreased. Just as the enemy came to deceive Adam and Eve and take life from them, he also comes to steal life from you. He is your enemy and adversary.

"The real issue is life or death! Many people misses the point. So many are alive, yet dead.

Eph 2:1-10

(1) AND YOU [He made alive], when you were dead (slain) by [your] trespasses and sins

(2) In which at one time you walked [habitually]. You were following the course and fashion of this world [were under the sway of the tendency of this present age], following the prince of the power of the air. [You were obedient to and under the control of] the [demon] spirit that still constantly works in the sons of disobedience [the careless, the rebellious, and the unbelieving, who go against the purposes of God].

(3) Among these we as well as you once lived and conducted ourselves in the passions of our flesh [our behavior governed by our corrupt and sensual nature], obeying the impulses of the flesh and the thoughts of the mind [our cravings dictated by our senses and our dark imaginings]. We were then by nature children of [God's] wrath and heirs of [His] indignation, like the rest of mankind.

(4) But God--so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us,

(5) Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with which He quickened Him, for] it is by grace (His favor and mercy which you did not deserve) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ's salvation).

(6) And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

(7) He did this that He might clearly demonstrate through the ages to come the immeasurable (limitless, surpassing) riches of His free grace (His unmerited favor) in [His] kindness and goodness of heart toward us in Christ Jesus.

(8) For it is by free grace (God's unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ's salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God;

(9) Not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law's demands], lest any man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory to himself.]

(10) For we are God's [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

They are dead because even while they breathe, walk, and think, they have not allowed My abundant life force to flow into them.

2 Corinthians 5:14-17

(14) For the love of Christ controls and urges and impels us, because we are of the opinion and conviction that [if] One died for all, then all died;

(15) And He died for all, so that all those who live might live no longer to and for themselves, but to and for Him Who died and was raised again for their sake.

(16) Consequently, from now on we estimate and regard no one from a [purely] human point of view [in terms of natural standards of value]. [No] even though we once did estimate Christ from a human viewpoint and as a man, yet now [we have such knowledge of Him that] we know Him no longer [in terms of the flesh].

(17) Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!

Enoch understood this principle well. He was the father of Methuselah. It was God's life force flowing through him that gave Methuselah longevity. Enoch knew that real life existed in God, and that in God there was no death. His intimacy with God gave him life!

"Do you understand what I am saying to you? God is life itself. Jesus is the life force. No one lives without Jesus. All living things exist in Jesus and through Jesus.

Acts 17:28

For in Him we live and move and have our being; as even some of your [own] poets have said, For we are also His offspring.

God's desire is that you allow His life force to flow into you, and through you to others. God's longing is for people to be truly alive. Satan has come to steal, kill, and destroy life. Jesus came so that you might have life, abundant life.

John 10:10

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).

God is revealing these things to you because you have chosen to walk with. Him just as Enoch did.

The reality of this revelation must penetrate the very cells and essence of your body and life. Life, divine life, supernatural life, eternal life, is so much more than a theological concept, It is real! It is tangible! It is Jesus! And you are experiencing it right now. Why would anyone not desire this Life? I ask of you?

Here it is, practically spelled out to you: God is the very essence of life; He is Life itself. We have abundant life though Him, and we have no life without Him. To be truly alive, we must look to Him!

Lesson Two: Being, Not Doing

"Today I want to speak to you about the purpose of life, God says. "Many believe that they must discover their purpose for living that life is about purpose. But, in truth, life is purpose. Meaning is found in the fact of life itself. So many people try to find fulfillment in what they do, instead of who they are and who I am.

"Adam was formed so that God could walk with him, not so that he could tend the Garden. God did not create Adam because He needed a gardener. Work is a result of life, not the purpose and meaning of life. Your forefathers were correct when they said, ‘The chief end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.'

"God have made all mankind because He desire companionship. Your were made to have communion with God; that is your purpose and the purpose of every other man and woman on earth.

Enoch discovered that his life was satisfying as long as he enjoyed communion with God. I want you to understand this same simple truth: your fulfillment flows out of communion with GOD. All things find their true meaning for existence in God. When you separate yourself from God, the purpose for which you were created, is denied.

"When you fulfill your purpose by spending time with God, everything that you need in order to accomplish your assignment in life is released. Fellowship with God was Adam's purpose; tending the Garden was his assignment. Through your communion with God comes creativity. Creativity is the very life force of God, giving release to new potential and new things. All that is needed for life. God has provided.

Today's message is for you to understand clearly that you were created to be with Jesus, to enjoy Jesus, and to walk with Jesus. Everything flows out of intimacy with God. Purpose, meaning, goals even creativity - all these things are a result of your relationship with God, and are enhanced by the time you spend with God. His nature is ‘I AM,' not ‘I Do.' Without HIM you can do nothing. You are a human being, not a human doing. You must learn how to be.

God has made you for His pleasure. I hope you are beginning to understand God's real purpose for your life. It wasn't ministry or work it was intimacy with God! You were made in His image, for His glory and pleasure.

Do you see now why God created you? He created you to have fellowship with Him. When you spend time with Him, you are both discovering and fulfilling your purpose.

You can never have dominion without intimacy with God the Father.
