S-34 - Dominion Through Your Calling
68Over the last two weeks I have been speaking to you on the changes that needs to take place within you in order to come to a place where you portray the mindset and the spirit of Joshua and Caleb whose lives is but a shadow and picture of what God desires from us.
These mindsets that I presented to you were to challenge you to come to a place of dominion in your walk with God and also to come to that place where you have locked into your destiny in God.
Today I want to continue with this series and speak to you on stepping into your dominion through your calling that God has placed upon your life.
I have at several occasions said to you from this public platform as well as for many of you individually that I am moving forward. I am going to where God is calling me. I have also said to you that if you are a true son you will lock into what God is speaking to us in this season and you will embrace the Word of the Lord to you.
What does this then imply to all of us this morning. What I am trying to tell you is best to be said straight forward and without pulling any punches. I am running after what God is doing in this time. I am aligning myself to every word that He is speaking to me and are bringing myself under obedience to His Word. If you as a son has the desire to stay locked into the grace that God has placed upon our lives… you will have to do the same. You can no longer go and sit in your corner and lick your wounds every time that the Word has pierced your heart and soul. Do not come running to me to pray for your healing. Now is the time to take up the dominion that God has already established for you in Christ Jesus.
Col 3:1-17
(1) If then you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. [Psalms 110:1]
(2) And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.
(3) For [as far as this world is concerned] you have died, and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.
(4) When Christ, Who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in [the splendor of His] glory.
(5) So kill (deaden, deprive of power) the evil desire lurking in your members [those animal impulses and all that is earthly in you that is employed in sin]: sexual vice, impurity, sensual appetites, unholy desires, and all greed and covetousness, for that is idolatry (the deifying of self and other created things instead of God).
(6) It is on account of these [very sins] that the [holy] anger of God is ever coming upon the sons of disobedience (those who are obstinately opposed to the divine will),
(7) Among whom you also once walked, when you were living in and addicted to [such practices].
(8) But now put away and rid yourselves [completely] of all these things: anger, rage, bad feeling toward others, curses and slander, and foulmouthed abuse and shameful utterances from your lips!
(9) Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old (unregenerate) self with its evil practices,
(10) And have clothed yourselves with the new [spiritual self], which is [ever in the process of being] renewed and remolded into [fuller and more perfect knowledge upon] knowledge after the image (the likeness) of Him Who created it. [Genesis 1:26]
(11) [In this new creation all distinctions vanish] There is no room for and there can be neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, [nor difference between nations whether alien] barbarians or Scythians [who are the most savage of all], nor slave or free man; but Christ is all and in all [everything and everywhere, to all men, without distinction of person].
(12) Clothe yourselves therefore, as God's own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are] purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper].
(13) Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference (a grievance or complaint) against another, readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has [freely] forgiven you, so must you also [forgive].
(14) And above all these [put on] love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness [which binds everything together completely in ideal harmony].
(15) And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ's] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].
(16) Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts.
(17) And whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in [dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him.
Today I have to get into your face. Playtime is over. You are either with me and with God or you are against me and against God. You can no longer serve two masters. Either you serve God or you serve mammon and his illegal structures. You can no longer sit on your chair and warm your pew and not get your hands dirty with the work of the Kingdom. If you are not building the kingdom your are either opposing the work that is being done of you are advancing the work of the Enemy. If you are slowing me down or not giving momentum to what God is doing you are instruments in the hands of the evil one.
I almost want to cry out this morning a battle cry. If you are with me, come and follow me into battle. If you are not going to lift up my arms, then please get out of my way and the way of what God is doing. If you do not move from your inaccurate position and the inaccuracies that you continue to feed in you, you will experience a great crushing as the building stone that you are rejecting will fall on you. Rather this morning my cry unto you is to save yourself for the Kingdom. Throw yourself this morning onto the cornerstone and the rock of all ages. Let Him mould you to become a pillar and a rock in the House that he is building in this time.
I have told you over and over again that the Word of the Lord is a two edged sword. You will be pierced between the bone and the marrow. Truth and lies in you needs to be separated and you have to come to a place of dominion first in terms of your salvation, then your flesh and then to walk in dominion of your calling.
Over the past weeks I have kept on challenging you to deal with inaccuracies in your mindsets and in your conduct and behavior. You have to first have dominion in your own life before you can start to exercise dominion in the calling that God has placed upon your life. Dominion starts in your home already. Do you walk in dominion as a Husband, Father or a Wife Mother? Do you walk in the godly order of Marriage?
1Pe 4:11
Whoever speaks, [let him do it as one who utters] oracles of God; whoever renders service, [let him do it] as with the strength which God furnishes abundantly, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ (the Messiah). To Him be the glory and dominion forever and ever (through endless ages). Amen (so be it).
In the previous season everybody had a calling or a ministry. This has not changed. However we need to engage this calling in an accurate way. I want this morning to define your calling in the following way:
The word ''calling'' can be defined as the Divine summons that God is placing upon your life. Those who respond to this Divine summons of God (i.e. call) become members of a ''called-out group'' which is called a ''Household of Faith'';
This would immediately imply that as sons of this Household of Faith that each one of you will have a call that complements and enhances the calling that God has placed upon this corporate son, as well as the Set Man of the House.
Rom 11:29
(29) For God's gifts and His call are irrevocable. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call]
God never changes his mind. We do. This morning I want to say to you that you can run but you can not hide. There is a demand that is placed on each one of us to respond to that call that God has spoken over you and in order to equip you for that call He has placed specific talents and gifts in you as you now become the gift of God to this Household of Faith. In the same way we now become a gift from God from one to another.
1Co 1:26
(26) For [simply] consider your own call, brethren; not many [of you were considered to be] wise according to human estimates and standards, not many influential and powerful, not many of high and noble birth.
When man look at us they laugh and mock but God who has called us is faithful….. and remember that the Word of the Lord NEVER returns void.
1Co 7:20
(20) Everyone should remain after God calls him in the station or condition of life in which the summons found him.
Eph 4:4
(4) [There is] one body and one Spirit--just as there is also one hope [that belongs] to the calling you received--
Eph 1:18
(18) By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones),
Phi 3:14
(14) I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.
2Th 1:11
(11) With this in view we constantly pray for you, that our God may deem and count you worthy of [your] calling and [His] every gracious purpose of goodness, and with power may complete in [your] every particular work of faith (faith which is that leaning of the whole human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness).
2Ti 1:9
(9) [For it is He] Who delivered and saved us and called us with a calling in itself holy and leading to holiness [to a life of consecration, a vocation of holiness]; [He did it] not because of anything of merit that we have done, but because of and to further His own purpose and grace (unmerited favor) which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began [eternal ages ago].
Heb 3:1
(1) So then, brethren, consecrated and set apart for God, who share in the heavenly calling, [thoughtfully and attentively] consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest Whom we confessed [as ours when we embraced the Christian faith].
2Pe 1:10
(10) Because of this, brethren, be all the more solicitous and eager to make sure (to ratify, to strengthen, to make steadfast) your calling and election; for if you do this, you will never stumble or fall.
Each one of us know that we have a calling and a destiny and that destiny is Christ in the Earth. Over and above our personal destiny there is also the destiny of the corporate son. That is also to manifest Christ in the Earth and to establish the rule and reign of the Kingdom of God in the Earth.
We know and understand with our minds and intellect that this is the place of dominion. Now Jesus is placing a demand upon us to come to that place of dominion both as individuals but also as a corporate body.
Coming back for a moment to the role of the Father and the son model in the church you will now better understand the importance of this wineskin. It is the role and function of the Father to ensure that you get to your destiny in Christ. He is the one that will facilitate that process. His job is to grow you in order for you to step into your destiny.
I have brought to you the ABC curriculum of Dr Sagi Govender because I know that as we follow it, it will be a key is being used to shorten our time of growth and development to come to that position and place of dominion. Your journey of 45 years now can take place in a lot shorter time. In Ephesus we see the whole city changes because of the School of Tyrannus within two years.
Act 19:9
(9) But when some became more and more stubborn (hardened and unbelieving), discrediting and reviling and speaking evil of the Way [of the Lord] before the congregation, he separated himself from them, taking the disciples with him, and went on holding daily discussions in the lecture room of Tyrannus from about ten o'clock till three.
It is significant to us to see that Paul had to separate himself from the religious systems of his time in order to presents his teachings at the lecture hall of the School of Tyrannus. After two years the whole of Asia was impacted.
If you want to come to that place of dominion and accuracy you will have to do the same. You will have to discipline yourself to spend 6-8 hours every day in the Word. Not many are willing to pay that price. Are you willing? Are you willing to embrace the Word in this way personally? That will be the start of a life of dominion in your walk with God.
My purpose as a Father is to release you as a son into your destiny and your calling. So the question this morning still remains within you…. What is your destiny and your calling?
What is your destiny and your calling?
- Your destiny and your calling is something that excites you and gives you great pleasure.
You will experience that you become alive all over. You will enjoy this so much that you will not ask money to do it. After a time you will become so skilled that people will pay you to fulfill you’re calling.
- Confirmed by other – Separate Paul and Barnabas, Peter James and John – calling to the Gentiles
Act 13:2-3
(2) While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, Separate now for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.
(3) Then after fasting and praying, they put their hands on them and sent them away.
Gal 2:9
(9) And when they knew (perceived, recognized, understood, and acknowledged) the grace (God's unmerited favor and spiritual blessing) that had been bestowed upon me, James and Cephas (Peter) and John, who were reputed to be pillars of the Jerusalem church, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, with the understanding that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised (Jews).
- Sometimes we see our calling confirmed through a supernatural event. One such an example is what we see in the life of Paul Damascus road in Acts 9. Another Moses and the burning bush.
- Your calling will also be confirmed through the Word of God. The example that we see in the life of Jesus where he read the Word in the Temple in Luk 4
Luk 4:17-21
(17) And there was handed to Him [the roll of] the book of the prophet Isaiah. He opened (unrolled) the book and found the place where it was written, [Isaiah 61:1-2]
(18) The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon Me, because He has anointed Me [the Anointed One, the Messiah] to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity],
(19) To proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord [the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound. [Isaiah 61:1-2]
(20) Then He rolled up the book and gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were gazing [attentively] at Him.
(21) And He began to speak to them: Today this Scripture has been fulfilled while you are present and hearing.
- We also see our calling confirmed to us through the unction of the Holy Spirit within us. He reminds us of God’s promises and instructions to us.
Joh 14:26
(26) But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.
If you are not engaging your assignment and calling from God you are a very frustrated person. You will experience in your walk with God that you are unfulfilled and incomplete. God give you gifts and abilities that you need to complete your assignment. You can only come to that place of dominion when you have embraced your assignment and is starting to walk in that calling and destiny. This is where you will start to experience your dominion manifested. If you have not yet come to a place of dominion in your destiny and calling you will find that you are lacking these gifts and abilities and experience a deep frustration within you. Nothing that you do satisfies you. There is a constant longing for something deeper and something more. You will remain unfulfilled.
Many of us here are not in a position of dominion because we are walking haphazardly, are unstable, walk at random and irregularly in the earth and are not fulfilling our calling and destiny. There is no focus and clarity on where we are going and what we need to establish. As a result we do not walk in dominion and is not reaching our destiny in Christ.
When we look at the life of David we see that he was called to be the King of Israel. We meet him in the House of Jesse as a mere shepherd boy. Several years passed and there were instances where this calling upon his life was recognized and confirmed. From the life of David we can clearly see that Dominion only came when he stepped into his destiny.
If we study 2 Chron 8 we learn how David overcame and defeated his enemies. This was the time and moment where he stepped into his dominion. It will suit you well to again study this teaching of Ruling in the Midst of your Enemies which deals in detail with the enemies.
We must keep in mind that your talents your gifts and your abilities is not your calling. These are only tools that God gives in order to enable you to fulfill the calling that He has placed upon your life.
Let is look for a moment at the life of David and how it was perceived. David was a man that had many talents and gifts. A quick study on his life will reveal to you the following talents and gifts:
- David starts off as a Shepherd Boy
- He was a musician
- He was good with a sling
- He was good in ducking
- He was good in running and hiding
- He was good in acting as he pretended to be mentally ill
- He was a warrior
- He was good with a sword
- He had a talent for dancing
- He had a talent for singing
All of these shows us that he had many talents and abilities. In the charismatic season we took a look at all the talents, gifts and abilities that a person have and told him that is your calling. This is inaccurate. These are only gifts and abilities that God has given to you in order to fulfill your calling. Even to day we tend to do the same and use motivational speaking to identify our calling in stead of coming to a place of understanding that your function and calling is to make disciples. To be a Father and train others.
The whole purpose of talent is to fulfill your destiny and calling of the purposes of God which is to equip and train people into the full measure of Christ. We are after the exact presentation of Christ.
You have to understand that as a son in this House the mandate is to train and equip people into their destiny in Christ. If you have any other agenda but to grow to maturity in Christ and train others to do the same then you are inaccurately placed. Go and find the house that will launch you into your calling. In this House you cannot be a pew warmer. You will be required to get your hands dirty. You will have to study the Word in order to show yourself approved.
You have to be focused on your calling. You have to position yourself into your calling. You greatest enemy to your calling is your lack of focus. Focus is the concentration of your energy and strength on the assignment that God has given to you.
One of the requirements for priesthood was that of straight eyes – no squinting eyes was allowed. It speaks of the clarity of Focus and vision. You might be mighty talented but if you are not focused you will not step into your dominion.
Do not allow yourself to be distracted. Breakthrough only comes through change. It does not happen by chance. You have to aggressively deal with every form distraction. Identify those things that makes you loose focus or that keeps you busy. Refuse to be engaged by them.
If you struggle to focus it speaks of immaturity. Take a moment and look at the way that children function. They will be busy with a lot of things and nothing will get done. There is no focus. Focus only comes through discipline of that child and to teach that child to focus. We see this all the time. People will tell me that God told them to submit and give momentum to what we are doing, next week they will come and tell me that God has told them to do something else. God is not confused.
Everything that is not giving momentum to your calling must be placed at a lower level of importance. Get rid of the people that are wasting your time seeking attention and feeding of your soul dimension.
FIVE ENEMIES OF YOUR FOCUS:
F – FORMER - Your Past
O – OPERATIONS - Will lead to irrelevant actions
C – CEMETERY - Past successes become monuments
U – UNSEEN - impair accurate vision and block your view
S – STOPPAGE - can lead to discouragement and making you loose focus and cause failure.
- THE FOCAL POINT – YOUR FORMER LIFE: Your Past.
You can do nothing to change your past. You have to use the things from the past to change your future and reach your destiny and fulfill your calling. David used the past experiences in his life with the encounters of the Lion and the Bear to change his future when he was faced with the giant Goliath.
- OPERATIONS: If you life from the past it will lead to irrelevant actions and you will act out the present from your past experiences.
The way that a business functions and are being conducted is quite often referred to as the operations of that company. You can apply this very same principle to your life. If you operate from your past experiences and understanding it will bring you to a place where your operation in the spirit in ineffective and irrelevant in this season. You have to use the most current operating system.
Moses fell into this trap. When God told Moses to speak to the rock to bring forth water, he striked the rock. His past experiences dictated that when he strikes the rock water will come forth. The current process to be applied that he was to use a command. He had to speak to the rock. This was the result of his past focus and experience. He was not focused on the current word of God. The result of this operating system in his life was that he saw the promised land but never entered into the land Canaan. He saw it from afar.
We also see this in the life of Israel with regards to the Ark of Covenant. We know that the Ark is symbolic to the Presence of God. The Israelites were seeking the presence of God. The ark has been moved from MountGibeon to MountZion and then they still went to the place where it used to be at the mountain and brought their sacrifices there even though the ark has been moved to Zion.
Jer 3:16
And it shall be that when you have multiplied and increased in the land in those days, says the Lord, they shall no more say, The ark of the covenant of the Lord. It shall not come to mind, nor shall they [seriously] remember it, nor shall they miss or visit it, nor shall it be repaired or made again [for instead of the ark, which represented God’s presence, He will show Himself to be present throughout the city]. [Isaiah 65:17; Revelation 21:3, 22, 23]
People worshipped God from the mindset of the past. How often don’t we do the same? God told them if we look at this scripture that there is a new way of worship. We see clearly God stating that a new order will replace the old order. We have to change to embrace the proceeding Word of God to every situation. The ark has now been replaced by a people that are manifesting the very presence of God in the City.
- CEMETERY: Past successes become monuments
We see the man at the pool of Bethesda in John 5. The Pool of Bethesda became a monument for all who focused on the past visitations. He was waiting for the past experiences…. The angel to stir the water and did not look at the current visitation of Jesus.
Your past experiences and successes for God has now become monuments in your life. You have no new testimonies. You only have testimonies of what God has done for you 10 years ago. You can only tell me about the new revelation that God gave you years ago. You build your whole life on that platform and experience. It has become your cemetery. You stay in your past experience and do not embrace the new that God is doing. You life a life of tradition and religion and there is no life in your relationship with God. Your life is one of existence and there is no zest to what you life and experience. Every day is like the day before. How depressing!
- UNSEEN: Past Successes now impair accurate vision and block your view
Living from the past will place you in a position where your vision is impaired. These structures that you have built will become your focus and also your comfort zone. You will be looking at these past experiences and what you have established through them and that will then be your reality in stead of the reality of present day truth and the proceeding word of God. When we look at the life of the prophets with Elisha we see this clearly manifested. When they saw Elisha after Elijah has been taken up, he is wearing the mantle of Elijah. They do not recognize what has happened. They went looking for Elijah. They did not recognize the present day reality of the new thing that God was doing and the carrier of that present day truth. Do not allow your past experiences or your successes to dictate your present day reality.
Phi 3:13
I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,
- STOPPAGE: Your past can lead to discouragement and making you loose focus and cause failure.
Stoppage can be defined as that situation where things are stopped in a process. If you are firing a gun at your target a stoppage occur which then causes your gun to no longer function. In order for you to be able to hit your target you have to remove the stoppage from the gun.
Look at how you came to be in this world. When you were born as a baby the placenta had to be cut off and could no longer be used as your sustenance to feed you. In the same way your past needs to be cut off from you and you need to embrace the new. If you leave the placenta and the umbilical cord you will become sick and die because all kinds of sicknesses and diseased will be able to access your body through this connection. If you look at this as a spiritual picture you will see the significance. The past also includes your past spiritual experiences. If you stay there and continue to feed on them you will eventually die spiritually. Viruses in the form of inaccuracies will kill you. You can not be bound by sentimentalities and relationships. You have to move to where the presence of God moves. If you do not move you choose to stay and worship your idols. Your loyalty then is to man and not to God. I have seen many in this ministry come and go and return some of them several times. I have continued to move forward. My allegiance is to follow God, his instructions and His presence. He is my passion.
I have no desire for any of you as the sons to be attached to me or Renette through sentiment. You must be locked in because of the presence of God as well as the grace within us and not because of sentiment and the person or the leader. You are following God and not me or Renette as your Set Man and Set Woman.
Now let us take a moment and look also at FOCUS in a positive way:
FIVE FRIENDS OF YOUR FOCUS:
F – FOCAL POINT - Your Calling
O – OPERATIONS – Proceeding Word
C – CROSS of Jesus and YOU crucified
U – UNCOVER – SEEN - VISION
S – SUCCESS
- F – FOCAL POINT - Your Calling
The Focal point can be described as an object of concentrated attention. I want to challenge you this morning to make your calling your focal point. As you focus on your calling and your destiny in Christ everything else will grow dim and unimportant.
- O – OPERATIONS
The operating system in your life needs to become the Proceeding Word of God. The now Rhema word of God to you. It needs to be implemented and applied to your life and walk immediately. The WORD has to become your operating system and your reality in all that you do.
- C – CROSS
This is where you bury your life in Christ and in the Cross. The only cemetery allowed is death to self. It is to consciously bury your own vision and dreams and embrace the Christ Life and the destiny and calling that He has given to you
- U –UNCOVER - SEEN - VISION
You have clarity of vision. You have focused attention on establishing your destiny in Christ. You see the appearance of Christ in you manifesting in the earth.
Col 3:4
(4) When Christ, Who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in [the splendor of His] glory.
- S –SUCCESS
You have now come to the place where you are stepping into your destiny in Christ. Nothing is stopping you from being successful in your calling and your destiny. You will now start to experience a life of dominion in your walk with God.
1Pe 5:11
To Him be the dominion (power, authority, rule) forever and ever. Amen (so be it).
