Getting SA Motorbike Insurance is one of the most important things that you can do to protect your investment and your health. With insurance, you’ll be covered if you get in an accident or you experience a theft. This way you’ll be able to ride your motorbike knowing that you and your bike are protected.

Determining the Rate

Your premium rate will also be determined by several other factors. People with certain types of high risk motorbikes (like those that are stolen most frequently) will pay higher insurance rates. Younger drivers, those with traffic accidents on their records and those who have had recent claims on their insurance policies will also have higher rates. If your motorbike has antitheft devices on it, you can lower your rate. You can also lower your rate if you park your motorbike in a secure location.

Monthly Premiums

When you buy a motorbike insurance policy, you are purchasing protection. In exchange for a monthly charge, called a “premium”, your insurance company will pay for any injuries or damage incurred while you are driving. Some policies have high amounts of coverage that will pay for all expenses that you incur after an accident or because of theft. Others only have specific amounts of coverage based on your needs. The higher your level of coverage, the higher your monthly premiums will be. You should know the about the hidden cost of your motorcycle insurance policy and reduce those costs to save on your monthly premiums.

Insurance Companies

You will purchase a policy for your motorbike through one of the many insurance companies available. Most car insurance companies will offer insurance coverage for motorbikes as well, but there are other insurance companies that specialise in covering motorbikes. Base your choice on the prices of the different policies. Sometimes depending on your qualifications you may be better off trying to bundle your motorbike insurance with a car insurance policy.

Types of Cover

There are several different types of coverage to choose from. Comprehensive coverage is just what it sounds like. It is comprehensive, meaning it covers most or all of the damage or medical bills that you incur during an injury, up to a certain amount. Your monthly bike insurance premiums will differ depending on the type of cover you choose.Different policies will have different coverage amounts. With a comprehensive policy, you are covered for your personal expenses and injuries and you are also covered for any medical bills or repair bills that you cause for another person.

Collision Coverage

Collision coverage is another option that covers your repairs, but not anyone else’s. With this type of policy, you are basically protecting yourself against theft or damage to your motorbike. If you have a newer motorbike that you don’t drive that often (therefore limiting the risk of injuring another person) this type of policy is a good way to protect your investment.

Liability Coverage

Liability coverage is by far the least expensive form of coverage. With this coverage, you are agreeing to cover all of your costs, but the insurance company will pay for medical bills or repair costs for other people should you cause an accident. If you have a liability only policy, you’ll be responsible for repairing your motorbike or paying for your medical bills.
