If you want to impress your top colleges, get ready to take the SAT ahead of time with an SAT practice test.

Nearly every college in America accepts the SAT or SAT Subject Tests as a part of its admissions process and more than two million students take the SAT every year so it is important to stand out from the crowd.

By taking a practice test, you'll reinforce your test-taking skills, become familiar with the test format, and learn where to focus additional study. In addition to a practice test, follow the guidelines below to be sure that all your hard work and studying pays off on the day of the big test.

Make sure you are well-rested and get a good night's sleep the night before the test.  Eat breakfast because you'll be at the test center for a few hours and you're going to get hungry!

Be sure to bring acceptable photo ID and your SAT Admission Ticket as well as two No. 2 pencils and an eraser.  Mechanical pencils are not allowed because they may have the wrong type of lead or punch through the answer sheet.  No pens! Bring a calculator and be sure it has battery power.

Bring a healthy snack. For each hour of testing you will have a short break.

Usually you will be asked to arrive at your assigned test center by 7:45 a.m and you will be finished between 12:30 and 1 p.m. If you are only taking one or two SAT Subject Tests, you may leave the test center after your final test is finished.

During the testing period, be sure to follow all instructions carefully. Your high intelligence is no match for a faulty score card. You must fill in the entire circle darkly and completely with your number 2 pencil. Erase any changes thoroughly because incomplete marks can affect your score.

You are allowed to work on only one test during each testing hour and you will get a short break at the end of each hour of testing time. You can take no more than three SAT Subject Tests on one test date. On test day you can change which SAT Subject Test you want to take. You may substitute a SAT Subject Test (other than a listening test), or add SAT Subject Tests (other than a listening test) on test day.

Sleep, health, preparation and an SAT practice test will put your score in a competitive bracket and help ensure that you get accepted by the school of your choice.
