I was working on the net the other day when i browsed through the oprah website and i saw the piece done on internet scam and how it has eaten deep into the technological structure of the society and how the youth of the world have completely sold their conscience to this callous and dastardly act.My country was there fingered as the number one culprit in this act.

As much as i feel embarrassed and ashamed of this findings, i cannot totally argue or denied that there are some truth in this conclusion. i then began to wonder how things get this bad and what can really be done to change the order of things or the orientation of those involved in this act.I have intentionally brought up this issue whenever i find myself in open discussions and the response i get were almost always not satisfying enough.Some of these people justify their act by claiming that it is a pay back time for all the atrocities conducted by the colonial masters during the colonisation period.They claimed that the colonial masters came into africa and took away both the human and natural resources of africa and that till date no single reparation as been paid in return.They therefore concluded that the people that have fallen victim of this act are only paying for the sins of their forefathers.

Even though they tried to justify this cruel act, i still could not understand some things. Who gave them the right to collect reparation on behalf of the colonised territory?And if this is true then the black people in diaspora are african and they are also being scammed, then if this is true what then is the sense in this cruel act? as a matter of fact internet scam is not an invention of Africa or Africans, all that is being practiced today was learnt an invented by the people in the developed countries of the world taught to the africans and is now being used against them, just as the terrorist in the world today were the student of America and the developed countries of the world.I am even less concern about who started the scam or not all i am concerned with is the rating given to my country as the topmost country in the internet scam ring.

I then wonder how my country get to this level and how things get so bad? You will be amazed at how well endowed my country is in natural resources such as oil and many others.as you may know that my country is the largest and the most populous black nation of the world with over 150 million citizens counted in the 2006 census.Despite this rating on my country we still have people who have excelled and are still excelling in different fields of the world. We have the best mathematicians in the world, professors and nobel laureates,best medical doctors, great award winning writers and even successful sports men and women.I believe that my people are very smart and intelligence and can become whatever the want to be in this world.

But we may be fighting a lost cause if the issue is not approached from the root.As much as i did not approve of this act and i really believe it is a callous and barbaric act, i still want us to look at the situation of things as it is my country and maybe we can find another way of putting a stop to this ridiculous act. I really want this act to stop but hoe do we go about it?

My country became an independent nation in 1960, 1st of october to be precise, this makes her 47 years as an independent nation. The country is blessed with all the resources you could think of, a very large deposit of oil reserve. But you need to visit this country to see the level of poverty and degradation citizens of this country are experiencing. The level of unemployment is so high that the best brains are either into one crime or another. Because my people are so deprived of the basic necessities of life, most are always planning to migrate out of the country either legally or illegally.

In a country where the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, you may then not be surprised that the citizens are going into crime. Imagine a country where the weakly income of the citizen is less than 1usd and some people are living in splendour and affluence. In the 47 years of my country as an independent nation, the military have ruled the nation for over 30 years and this is the period where corruption was established, it became rampant and uncontrolled.The fraudsters became more influential and very successful, to the extent of becoming untouchables, using the machinery of government to carry out their illegal act.

The greatest retardation of my peoples destiny was done during the military era.we all then clamour for a change, a return to civil rule, hoping that this will improve our fortunes but are we really right about this or wrong?
