What is going on with our teens I work in health care at a large  hospital in the past couple of year I have seen more and more teens being admitted for new onset of seizures! A bit odd especially when taking a health history the parent state that they have never had any serious health issues prior. The first onset of the seizures usually go unnoticed due to the seizure it be very mild.

After having a seizure most are extremely tired and will sleep for a long time. A seizure take a huge toll on the body and brain. Usually the seizure will intensify and that it when they are more noticeably to the  parents and they bring them in. Teen are usually between the ages of fourteen and nineteen year old at this age they are trying many new thing.

When being brought in the emergency room they are A symptomatic other then a extremely dazed look in their eyes and extreme figure almost in a  cationic  state.  At the hospital they are given a full work up  and a CT scan, and put on Isolation for a rule out of Mingiest. This is becomes very costly for families.

This information is for all the parent out there that have teenagers. I can not say this enough COMUNICATION IN THE KEY!!!

The City girl that I am, street smarts is my gift!!!!! Teen are hard enough to understand anyway but at the time they  are figuring out were they  fit in to society is even more difficult.  So don't think your teens are not trying the thing many of tried when we were teens. The only differences is that today thing that are being tried are defiantly not the same. Yes I am talk about street drugs and one in particular(weed, marijuana, pot) our teens are trying and having very bad affects from it seizures.

Weed is no longer sold in bags and just green buddy stuff, it is in little glass jars and crystallized and sticky god only knows what people are putting in it or on it, but whatever it is can be very dangerous to our teens.  The bad thing is if they only  did once it will not show in a drug screen or if it has been over 72 hours and the teen has minimal body fat it will also  give a negative result,  with this the doctors are limbo as far as what is the cause of the seizures. 

I have two brothers  one had what the call a psychotic episode due to smoke weed at the age of 18 and the other was in a catatonic state for three weeks!!!!
