Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is something that many writers still don’t get. When most people write they think of quality content. Which to most people this means writing a good quality article. What many people make the mistake of doing is not including SEO as part of their quality content. I have seen many top blog posts and articles that have been a quality read, but ranked low in search results, the reason they don’t rank is lack of SEO.

Quality content (including SEO) = Clicks (page views)

Now before I start I just want to say I am not a SEO expert and would never claim to be. If anyone claims to be they must be working for Google, as unless you know exactly Google’s rankings system, you will never know exactly what will make it and what will fail. I simply practice SEO.

The information I will give you within the hub is detailed and if followed can be very rewarding.

Contents of this hub include.

1: Writing for robots and people together.

2: The importance of Hot links / Backlinks

3: Getting into the search engines quickly.

4: Enjoy the rewards.

..................................................................

Ok we will start.

1: Writing for robots and people together.

First things first open notepad Start Menu\allPrograms\Accessories\notepad. Then open your browser,

When writing only ever publish unique content, never copy from other websites if you do, you stand to make $0 for your efforts, which I think is well deserved for the effort.

Before you start writing do a little research on what you think people will search for to find your page, search your chosen keyword in Google Search, click the first result (not the sponsored results) and wait for it to load.

Once the page loads right click on an empty space within the website, a menu will popup go down to view source and click.

Now what you see is the source code from the website, press Ctrl + F then type "keywords", you should see the keywords meta tag for the page with lots of keywords, copy and paste all the relevant keywords to your empty note pad that you opened earlier.

Research is still not over, you need to find out which keywords are the most popular, in other words which keywords are searched the most, Go to https://adwords.Google.com/select/KeywordTool (You must be an account holder with Google) copy one of the keywords from earlier and paste it into Google keyword tool and click get keyword ideas.

A list of keywords will show. Now what you are looking for is the search volumes, you have a Global monthly column and Local column; this tells you the amount of searches a specific keyword received with the last month. Check to make sure that the keyword you have chosen is receiving a healthy amount of searches.

If this keyword works and has good search volume then use this as one of your keywords as long as the other keywords are relevant you can also use them to.

Now when you write you must remember to use your chosen keywords, as many times as you can, within your content, however do not spam your keyword and only use them where appropriate. The maximum I use is once per 250 characters this is an overall figure for the characters total so you can use the keywords on the same line if you wish as long as you don’t go over the limit and it is appropriate.

Now go write your hub Remember to add your keywords where appropriate and come back to continue with this SEO Lesson.

Welcome back!

We have now reached the second stage of our SEO Lesson

2: The importance of Hot links / Backlinks

Many people don’t Actively create backlinks them selves but rather other people who visit your page create them. However for you to get to the top of search engines you must create your own backlinks.

(Backlinks = votes) these votes are a major factor in determining the search results for your chosen keyword, No votes = bottom of the results = no traffic.

To get backlinks. first thing you should do is Digg you hub url at Digg.com make sure the title includes your chosen keywords also include the keywords within the comment area.

put it in the world news category, if digg shows you possible duplicates then you have to be weary. Digg seem to be using a timing script on their possible duplicates page, This is in place to stop people ignoring the possible duplicates,

if you click before the script timer has finished your page will not make it in digg. If you are shown possible duplicates after you post on digg, I recommend waiting for at least 60sec on the duplicates page before you continue. Once you digg your hub url,  wait for 12-36 hours and go do a search in google for your chosen keyword term, you should see you hub on the first page, somtime you can achive number 1 position with digg alone.

Another way to generate backlinks and hotlinks is to Go to Google type your keyword and the word "blog" then search. You are looking for blogs that allow you to comment on their post.

Read the post and then go to the comment section. When commenting on a wordpress blog, it ask you for your name, make this your keyword, There will also be a box for your url/website, copy and past your hub url, then you must comment on the post, make a genuine comment otherwise it may not get published if the admin thinks its spam.

Once you have finished commenting on the post you hit the button to complete the comment. This may have to be checked by admin before publishing, but when published you will notice your name which is your keyword also links to your hub/page. Google sees this as 1 vote for the chosen keyword.

Go back to Google and follow the same process again on several other sites also use other relevant keywords, only use keywords that exist within you hub content.

Its amazing how little keyword targeted links are required to make the top listings. For my last hub I did 3 backlinks and this got me to number 1 in Google within 12 hours NO Joke. However another little trick is required to make this all possible and that brings us to the next stage of the SEO Lesson.

3: Getting into the search engines quickly

How long does it take for your page to appear in search engines? Normally I can make top spot within 12 hours of publishing, this is down to all of the above plus one other factor, DIGG.COM

Digg is a powerful social bookmarking/networking site where people can post their links. This acts as a backlink but is so much more powerful than any normal backlink, If you add your hub url to Digg you should make top spot within 12-24 hours.

All of the above is not science its based on calculations from previous experiences in SEO + marketing, And still works today.

Now onto the last topic:

4: Enjoy the rewards.

I will not kid you and say your hub will make millions of $ because the chance of this is slim to non. However you hubs could generate a nice regular income as long as your content is consistent and you follow the rules above.

This concludes the SEO LESSON

I like your comment about no one actually knowing how to truly optimize Google. It could all change tomorrow if they suddenly decide to rank differently. We do the best we can, we look for trends and clues, and we understand that we really don't know the innerworkings of Google.

A backlink from Digg means next to nothing. Backlink voting is tremendously diluted when the site gives out thousands of backlinks, right?

Nicomp this is what every one assumes, the truth is far from the assumptions people have. I don't want to speak to much about it but as long as you follow the instructions given within this hub you will succeed in the generation of backlinks. and getting to the top of search results.
