Life was never easy for SIMPLE KAPADIA because even before she wanted to make a name for herself she had already been labeled as "DIMPLE KAPADIA'S Kid-Sister" that in itself meant that no matter what she chose to do with her life she would always be measured by the yard stick of her elder sister. Now whoever has seen SIMPLE KAPADIA in person will immediately agree that she ain't such a bad looker.Infact she was quite a rage when she started modeling and was on the verge of stepping into films.
Her sultry simmering looks along with her wild give a damn life-style made her quite a happening and rather interesting teenager who was (in)famous for being someone who spoke straight from the hip and called a spade a spade. Diplomacy was something that never crossed her path and she was a blunt and cutting as a raxor edge.
Things would have been really swell for her had she been anyone else but just being DIMPLE's kid sister and RAJESH KHANNA's sister-in-law made her life hell. The kind of break she got opposite her Jija in Anurodh was something any girl would gladly die for back then. What was more she never came under the superstar's shadow nor showed any nervousness. For an absolute new comer she was very promising but when her debut was compared to DIMPLE's then things just crumbled.
The same was repeated time and again.So whether she signed a film opposite a huge star like JEETENDRA or was roped in to do several films with DEV ANAND or gave an impactful performace credit was always stolen from right under her nose. That was something that really hurt her terribly and she started to rebel just to make her presence felt beyond being a stunning star's sister.
It took 10 long years and the painful death of her younger sister who committed suicide because she could not cope with the pressure of being Dimple's younger sister so she took solace in drugs. the shock of seeing her kid sister-REAM KAPADIA whom she was very close too left her shattered and that was when she accepted the fact that no matter what she did or how good she was on her own the ruthless world would taunt her and make life hell for her until and unless she moved out of the shadows of her celebrity sister.
In the decade that SIMPLE KAPADIA was bitterly struggling to make her presence felt as an actress on her own steam she managed several films after her debut in SHAKTI SAMANTA's 'Anurodh' prominent were Chakravyuh, Ahsaas, Loot Maar, Man Pasand, Shakka, Naseeb, Zamane Ko Dikhana Hai, Tumhare Bina, Pyaar Ke Do Pal, Jeevan Dhara, Dulha Bikta Hai,Hum Rahe Na Hum amongst others.
Once she accepted reality and stopped turning her back on it the first step she took was to quit being an actress and she turned into a dress designer. The journey to the top over here was also not a cake walk sinc epeople made snide remarks about how she had failed as an actress so her sister used her starry connections to bulldoze her producers to get her outfits made only from SIMPLE KAPADIA and she would not wear any other label.
There may have been some truth in that but the gamble paid off when SIMPLE KAPADIA actually won the National Award for the dresses she created for her star sister in Rudali.Since then there has been absolutely no looking back. Just when life started looking up destiny shuffled it's pack of cards and dealt her a round of misfortune.
It virtually shook the earth from under the Kapadia feet when it was learnt that SIMPLE KAPADIA was suffering from an advanced stage of cancer and once again she was back to fighting the biggest battle of her life to win a few moments of life from the jaws of death that was rudely staring her in the face,
Born on 15th Aug,1958 her life has been one of constant turmoil as the emotional pressures tried to pull her down everytime she wanted to soar high.Just 50 years old one sincerly prays and hopes she comes out of this deadly battle victorious and a far braver person to lead a calm and serene life minus the pressures that have left her in an emotional turmoil. Hope the best truly lies ahead of SIMPLE KAPADIA so that she can be on her feet once again absolutely hale & hearty!!!

I did kno about Ream Kapadia. (I thimk she was born in 1968 and died sometime around 1992. But Simple Kapadia having been detected with Cancer is very shocking. Is she married ? Where and with whom is she staying ? Lets hope and pray that she has someone to look after her.
Nice read...finally some justice done to Simple Kapadia! What I can say is that she's winning the battle against cancer as she is much better these days and off the hospital. Simple Kapadia has had to suffer abject comments all through her life- when she was an actress, she was given several horrible nicknames- disgusting, as ugly as Dimple was stunning, a sore to public eyes, the ugly duckling, the constant hanger-on to name but a few. As a costume designer her nick was the-out-of-work sister turned dress designer to help star sister.Bad comments are always made about her and she's voluntarily ignored by the press...no pictures of her at bollywood parties although she's often present-I remember one example is at Ridhima Kapoor's wedding...there was a picture taken of the Kapadia clan with Dimple, Dimple's mum, Twinkle, Rinke & Simple on it. The next day the picture was reworked and Simple was no longer on it- instead it was called the beautiful Kapadia clan but without Simple Kapadia in it which I must concede is extremely unfair to her. How would you feel if all the women are you (Dimple, Twinkle, Rinke, Tabu, Amrita Singh) are all incensed for their beauty while you are either ignored or when you're not, being constantly said that you're ugly or being subject to cruel caustic comments? Even her sister Reem was given much more consideration, respect & praise. I bet that this accumulation of frustrations & humiliations has caused her cancer but thank god she's recovering rapidly from it!
After reading this, I seriously think that the title is wrong- it should be " How people made things complicated for Simple Kapadia" & not the other way round.
Tueday the 10th of Nov.2009 was indeed a Black letter day for all the fans and well wishers of SIMPLE KAPADIA as she lost her final battle to Cancer when she breathed her last after succumbing to a fatal heart attack.
For three long years Simple Kapadia was suffering from terminal cancer and yet she bore the brunt as she struggled for survival.However 10th of Nov proved to be the da for her final curtain fall as the 51 year old passed into eternal sleep.Leaving her loved ones shattered.
Now she will only be fondly remembered in the hearts and souls of all those who loved and admired her for what she stood for in her life and career.A strong and independent woman who refused to be known as Dimple Kapadia's sister or Rajesh Khanna's sister-in-law alone but struggled all her life to be known what who she was and what she was worth.
May her soul rest in eternal peace!!!!

I didnt knoe they had another sister who committed suicide! why couldn't Simple make a name for herself in the 10 years that Dimple did not act. Dimple had acted in only one movie which was Bobby and after that nothing, I think Simple had more then enough time to do something. I guess she was only destined for dress making!
