Singapore’s Economic Success:
The right policy in right time in the house of parliament was the secret of economic success of Singapore. Since independence, Singapore’s standard of living has been increasing year after year with the increase of its economy. It is the 17th wealthiest country in the world now in terms of GDP per capita. Singapore is the smallest country in Southeast Asia. It is an island nation located at the Southern tip of Malay Peninsula. A fishing village is transformed into a trading post on the island by the British in 1819. It was one of the most important commercial and military centers of the British Empire. Japan occupied Singapore during World War II, but the British regained it in 1945. It split from the Malaysia federation and became an independent republic on 9 August 1965. The population strength of Singapore is approximately 4.68 million. The majority people are Chinese but even then English is the administrative language of the country.
Downtown Core is the commercial center of Singapore:
It is in the South of the City-State of Singapore and the busiest center. Skyscrapers have grown up here because of the presence of intense population. It is the center place of economic core, including key district such as Raffle place, and the administrative buildings such as Parliament house, the Supreme Court and City Hall. It is the centre of commercial buildings and cultural landmarks.
Singapore is a Nation of Small Island:
A small island Singapore consists of 581.5, KM but today the area of island has increased to 704, KM by land reclamation since its independence. The spectacular skyline and road outlines have increased the beauty of the island and attracted the tourists of the world. MRT Station is the most prominent and busiest station located in the Down town core area. It is a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) interchange station connecting North – South and East – West of Singapore. Our first day journey started from Raffles MRT by car. There are different places to park the car on the Orchard Road but the parking charge differs place to place very much. It is desirable to look the cheapest car parking place for the whole day shopping. The Meridien center at one extreme end of Orchard Road is the one of the cheapest Car parking centers. The other end of Orchard Road is glamorous where parking charge is exorbitantly high. There lies the Orchard Central Coz. At night the area turned into a super gorgeous site of vision by the lightening of skyscrapers. The gorgeous building of the area displayed the best art of architecture. The next day our journey started on foot from Raffle MRT to Boat Quay along the Singapore river side. The icon of Singapore ‘Merlion’ decorated with the beautiful design of Lion and Fish is kept standing at the entrance of Singapore River, well coming the visitors day and night. Apart from shopping at Orchard Road one should go to see the nice place Boat Quay, the river side of the Singapore to enjoy the beauty of land and sea. We walked down to Boat Quay through the financial district. A woman will be satisfied getting the opportunity of marketing all kinds of girly things of her choice. Any body or every body will be tired off by the strain of marketing, when one will be looking for something to eat to be relieved off. Lots of restaurants had grown up all along the river side to get delicious Chinese food at Boat Quay.
Thomas Stamford Raffles was the founder of modern Singapore.
Initially Thomas spotted the importance of its location in 1819 and started its development as a British trading post on behalf of British East India Company. The British India office governed the island since 1858 and Singapore was made a British crown colony in 1867. Singapore became a self–governing state within the British Empire in 1959, and became independent in 1963 along with Malaya and others and gained absolute sovereignty on 9 August 1965. Raffles Place is a commercial place decorated with tall building and displaying the beauty of architecture of unbelievable infrastructure. The famous Esplanade theatre is here. Another day passed off visiting Sentosa. We also went through the Scotts Road, Orchard Road and finally to Suntec City Mall.
Gadget shopping:
If some one is interested with gadget shopping, all he needs to do is to get on the train at Orchard Station and get off at City Hall. Go to Funan Digital Mall, for costly sophisticated electronic goods or go to Sim Lim Square for cheap electronics. This is the place which may be rightly described as the heaven of electronic gadgets.
Tourist Information Centre:
Besides shopping one must visit the Tourist Information Centre, situated at the middle of Orchard Road where the executives provided information about tourist spots, how to get there, what to see and do, maps and lots more. The visitors are also provided with tourists incentives.
Sentos Island – It is a place of attraction. The Musical Mountain after 6 PM at night is superfine. The beaches of Island are the good entertaining site.
Singapore is an Asian City:
Ethnic quarters like little India, Chinatown or Arab street can be found in the streets of Singapore, where each community is living with their distinct culture. Singapore is an Asian City where Chinese, Malayan and Indian are living in cherish together with the tradition of their own culture. The memorable things are: (i) Fountain and pools at Sentose, (ii) The fountain of wealth at Suntec City, (iii) Marine Bay at night, (iv) The lightening of Skyscrapers at night, (v) The site of buildings at the harbor. People living in a place good or bad does not matter, gets fatigue and bored by the constant vision of a particular place and the constant routine works. Travelling brings freshness in mind and new vigor in the regular activity. Modern Singapore is a place of beauty; if some one is lost in the beauty by taking pictures after pictures, the person will definitely lose the real taste of leisure trip. It is here the opportunity of going to different places to see how the people are enjoying their life under different culture. This is what a life is in existence in the different parts of the globe.
