Hello everyone,
I'm sorry but I have to blog in English because It's part of my "contract".
But if I am every to quote the show, of course I will do so in Tagalog.
This is my first time blogging more than a few sentences. I really hope you guys join me and comment what you guys think of the show as well.
--------------- DYOSA ---------------------------
First of all, I have to say the intro of the show is really nice.
When I first saw the intro, it really hyped it up for me. I started imagining a show full of mythical creatures with its leading star transforming to three different creatures. I imagined a completely original story plot and will eventually be at the same level of success like Marina or Lobo. The male leading stars were all hot - Zanjoe, Sam, and Louis. I wanted to see Anne's chemistry with Zanjoe, since they were never paired up before.
After a few weeks of watching Dyosa, did it fulfill my expectations? Not so much.
True the plot did seem original, and I was hooked the first two weeks. However, in the following weeks, the story just seemed to drag on and on and on. Josephine, our main Dyosa heroine, refused the "tiara" and the title of being the "Takda of Kabanua". Fine. I can cope with that, but then until now since the show began, she is still refusing it!! Is that what the show intended? Are we suppose to feel bad for Dyosa? Because right now I want to hit her on the head and say JUST TAKE IT ALREADY! I watched the pilot of the show and the following episodes but stopped a month later. I missed about two weeks worth of episodes, but when I started watching today, it is as if I missed nothing. All I had to do was watch the "nakaraan" part and I'll be caught up. They need to speed things up with the plot.
Now with its special effect, well, I already didn't expect much. These effects are not as developed in the Philippines as they are in the states, so I wasn't expecting a real looking half horse half human creature. But still, I was willing to watch it. But the costumes are laughable in itself. The horns of the Kasamians are pretty creative, but their costumes look hideous. It looks like ABS asked my little brother to design the costumes for the "bad guys" because it really looks likea 9 year old thought of how they should look - with super fake looking skulls and runny pen tattoos. Hmm, I wonder what would tell everyone that they are the bad guys,OH I KNOW, I'LL LET THEM WEAR SKULL NECKLACES! Oh please...
Now with the chemistry between Anne and the guys, well they each have their level. Since we all know that Anne and Sam are, or was, a real-life "exclusive" couple, we already anticipated a connection there. And after watching, our anticipation was confirmed. The way Sam looked at Anne during some scenes were really heart-felt. The twinkle in their eyes really helps with the character development. And I must say, Sam really needs to fix his accent. I love him as Adonis, but I'm sorry, it was very hard to take anything he said because all I could focus on was his slang. A villain needs to be, in this case, a prominent Tagalog speaker. Thankfully, his acting compensated for his slang accent. With Louis, I didn't really feel the chemistry. I guess we just know too much of his past with Anne that it is hard to see them as anything more than friends. The surprise chemistry for me was between Anne and ZanJoe. I actually felt more "love" between them rather than her and Louis.
So overall, I think Dyosa has an original plot with loving main characters but is progressing way too slow for loyal fans to emerge. If this concept was used to make an American series, it would really look nice - a heroine with three different mythical forms. But I think Philippines just isn't ready to produce a show such as this. Maybe in the future, a similar show will emerge but with success.
Do I still watch Dyosa? Yes. Do I fastforward through most of it? Yes.
