I had the great experience of a six day road trip with my son who is 14, from California to Missouri to pickup three Australian Shepherds. On the way back a quick stop off in Sturgis South Dakota for a day to watch setup for bike week starting on Monday, August 4, 2008.

Living in California we have bans on smoking in any public place and many bans on smoking in outside areas. Between the second hand smoke and litter of cigarette butts on the ground this is a simple right of non-smokers to not be made to suffer and be made sick by some inconsiderate smokers.

If you smoke in private, and do not put your butts on the ground – good for you – light up and read the rest of this. You have every right to enjoy the personal freedom of using tobacco in whatever way that you want.

If there is anyone left on the planet that has not figured out smoke from tobacco makes people sick, not just the smoker, but all those that are close also, well, you are a moron and probably not capable of reading this article anyway. This is not a debatable issue with anyone with an IQ over 20, it is scientific fact.

Smoking being allowed in the same building with those that do not smoke is just a statement that smokers do not care who they hurt or how. It is the deepest level of Narcissistic, psychopathic behavior to knowingly cause the illness and premature death of another person just because you can.

Think about it, even Hitler and Charles Manson were getting a political and economic gain by destroying the lives of others. A smoker that lights up in a restaurant is making people ill and killing them to just show that they can.

Next time you are in a restaurant and have finished that great meal, before you light one up, please look your server in the eye and tell them that you have a legal right to kill them early, and then light up and puff away. They might spit in your dessert, but what the heck, you just made them sick for your own fun, they should get to have fun also.

While you are at it make sure to go to the non-smoking area and look at the little kids with forming lungs and tell them how they will have breathing problems because you just got to light one up in the building, you are too cool to go outside and you have a legal right to make them sick.

If you smoke around your kids, you should be locked up so you can smoke in your own private cell with a nice guard to protect your rights. I hope when your kids are old enough to know all the damage you have done to them, that they sue you personally.

Did I say smokers that light up in public are as bad as Hitler? – No – Hitler killed for a sick and demented reason, but it was a reason – Smokers are worse – they kill those around them just because they can, because they want to, their own children, other peoples children, and they do it in person while smiling and talking like a friend.

Smokers who smoke in public make Hitler look like a good guy with issues.

One note – Hats off to the Navajo tribe for proposing to ban smoking in public places on their reservation – This is a historic decision that shows the gravity of the issue. All we can hope is that the rest of the country follows their strength of leadership on these issues.
