Do we elect those who support us, or those who support their own agenda? How can we tell if those we send to Washinton really are our advocates? We can't. Politicans say whatever they need to say to get the most votes. It's like going to Vegas.

Barney Frank and several other democratics supported Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, even though several politicians (on both sides of the aisle had concerns about them, even the Bush administration wanted more oversight over Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, (5 times the Bush Administration sought oversight, 5 times they was refused). Got to love those greedy politicans who wanted to keep thier perks. . What happened with Enron, WorldCom, AIG, Bears Stern, Indy Mac, Lehmann Bros., etc. (your know the names), doesn't compare with what happened with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, (the fox was watching the hen house) all in the name of affordable housing ( is that another name for Welfare). Why haven't our elected officials called for ";hearings";? Is it because both Democrats and Republicans, who received hundreds of thousands of dollars, were involved with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, to rip off the American people? Americans are on the hook to bail out these government-sponsored enterprises, don't you think our elected officials should at least pretend to care. Don't you think we should apply basic accounting systems, the same systems that private business has to comply with. It seems to me that accounting fraud and deception dominate our government agencies. (As well as a few private sector companies, note I said a few, most are honest companies) If a private business kept their books, like government agencies there would be a lot of folks going to jail. What is sauce for the goose should be sauce for the gander. Accounting standards for businesses should be applied to Washington? Until we really care, until we explain to others how important it is to be informed, until we take responsibility not only for our own lives but responsibiltiy for our government, we do deserve what we get. If you don't like what you get, ask yourself what did you do to make a difference, if you did nothing, then what can I say other than tough nuggets! We do get what we deserve. Okay maybe those who try to get the messeage out in our simple way, maybe we have a beef with those that just don't get it. Guess we just have to work harder, get better at saying what we need to say. It's all about ";Life, Liberty &; the Pursuit of Happiness";. No guarantees! That's the way I like it.
