The finale of Britain's Got Talent
FOR EVER SUSAN
Susan Boyle won the competition Britain's Got Talent. Not officially, as everybody knows at this hour, but in the real world. Susan Boyle's name is already inscribed in history. She won because there's no singer in the world that was listened to in their career as many times as she was in just a few days. More than one hundred million times.
Her fans are devastated because they wanted her to win, actually they had all the reasons in the world to believe that she was going to win. But despite the blow, now that Britain's Got Talent got to an end, the messages of love and support for Susan Boyle keep on pouring from around the world. From UK and the United States, from Argentina and Sweden, from Kuwait and Brasil ... her adoring fans keep writing and shouting and crying and begging her to sing. They keep signing up to become her official fans, more than a thousand have done this after the end of the contest. And they want the world to know that she is the winner.
Some disturbing comments have been made about the possibility of the telephone lines having been manipulated. As one of her fans posted in her fan's club website: "Have you read how much the bookies made because of the upset win? I am not usually a conspiracy theory guy, but I am not naïve either." And another one: "... people were going to make a lot of money through betting if Susan lost."
Better not to linger on this matter, more suitable for a detective and out of the reach of the common citizen. One should note, however, that many comments talk about the telephone lines: "the phone lines were filled by USA fans whose votes did not count ... I don't think USA fans knew that. Those lines were BUSY!" . Whatever the reason, the fact is that many are complaining that they were not able to vote for her.
Although probably at the end of contests like this one the fans of the ones who didn't make it find all sorts of excuses, in this particular case the mere numbers back the suspicions either of foul play or at least of poor organization. In this era of high speed communications it seems bizarre that there were not enough phone lines, and all those who called should've been allowed to get through. Her fans didn't have the freedom to vote for her; here one among the many expressions of their grief: "I wish we could find out more about the voting because it is obvious Susan got robbed. Everywhere people are in shock and disbelief." These circumstances of course tarnish the credibility of the official result in spite of the nice, soothing sayings of the judges.
Piers Morgan, the judge of Britain's Got Talent, declared some days ago that he feared to be remembered in the future only because of his role with Susan: "... when I die, the headlines are now going to read: `JUDGE IN SUSAN BOYLE VIDEO DIES." Well, he might be right. The talk about the Britain's Got Talent contest will fade now in a matter of hours. The name of the dancers who --to their own surprise-- won the competition ... who is going to remember it in a few days, in a few months? The fame of Susan Boyle is going to last forever because she belongs to the history of human communications. She is the first star born from the internet, born from the people of the world.
More importantly, she is the one who brought hope to the ordinary person, the one who was able to rise from adversity to the highest pinnacle of fame. Hers is a tale of heroism that parents will be able to tell their children in the future.
You won, Susan, because you are unique. You won, Susan, because your voice is divine. You won, Susan, because you are the best. You won, Susan, because millions of people love you around the world. You won, Susan, because your glory is incomparably higher than the ordinary fame of your judges and contendors. You won, Susan, because WE LOVE YOU. PLEASE SING FOR US NOW, SING FOR US AND FORGET THE REST.

Indeed she is a winner Rosario but I think the competition was fair. I personally think if she had changed her song she would have won. The act that won DIVERSITY changed their performance in the semi-final and also changed it in the final - they took it one step further. Susan sang the same song for her audition, the semi-final and the final, However, on a positive note, she is now working on an album. When she peforms again, we'll have to get you front row tickets cos your one of her biggest and loyal fans. :)
That's a great idea! Front row tickets, I would be very happy to attend one of her concerts. This is the first time in my whole life that I'm called "a fan", I'm honored. I have to tell that I don't know anything about those contests (American Idol, BGT, etc.). So much so that it's only writing the article above that I realized that there was GAMBLING involved. You know, we are so used nowadays to constantly be sollicited to vote for this vote for that, give your opinion, that upon reading about the bets I thought it was metaphorical, one more poll ... to tell you the extent of my ignorance.
Now one thing I'm pretty sure. Whenever there is gambling involved, very strange forces appear. I don't want to say more because it's just a general perception, again I don't have the slightest clue as of what really happened. But the mere fact that she was adviced to sing again the same song seems to me curious. She has other triumphs in her repertory. Did you listen to Cry Me A River? It's not like she didn't know what else to sing.
MSN has a poll going on ... one more ... and 75% think that Susan was robbed. I don't personally agree or disagree with this because I don't have the means to know. And no matter what there were lots of votes for those kids, the dancers. I sincerely wish for them that they shall be well protected from exploitation and given scholarships and that their education is going to be properly taken care of.
Thank you Lady E for your kind comment.
Nice article. Reaching out to her now as she is obviously suffering is the perfect gesture. And I support it.
Thank you Daniel.
This is an excellent hub and one that I enjoyed reading, your writing style plus the fact that I totally agree with everything that you wrote made it very easy reading. I know that after this her life will never be the same again and I just hope that she gets some help to navigate her new course safely and happily. Thanks for comments you left me.

Boyle's case reminds me of Paul Potts. The judge's surprise when he started one of the most beautiful Nessun Dormas I have ever heard...In Boyle' case I don't think she needs to win. As you well said, she is aread well known around the world....Thanks for your wonderful contributions. They are fun and well written...
